This should have happened years ago but today I can finally say a cell phone service thats simple to understand...if this does take off and starts to really work google could really pull ahead in this market, all I know is I have shopped cell phone plans recently and they are extremely confusing, every single company thinks they are the cheaper than their next competitor, I know this because I have went into each individual store and heard the babbling from the guys trying to say our prices are the cheapest...when in reality they aren't, now with no contracts they tack on the price of the phone to the monthly bill so what Im actually saving...nothing, its still $100 a month no matter which way you slice it....the great thing about this new google plan is simple $20 unlimited talk and text and $10 per GB and guess what what ever data plan you sign up for, say the 3GB and you only use 2, they ACTUALLY credit you back $$$$, thats unheard of in this industry, so that means you could get a basic plan for around $50 a month, and any unused gigs get credited. Simple as that...this is going to cause some big meeting at vz, att, tmus and s, Im sure right now as Im writing this they are having meetings on new ways to drop the costs of their data plans and convince you that they are still the best..... Google launches US cell phone service 1 Hour AgoReuters Google on Wednesday launched a new U.S. wireless service that will enable customers to pay only for the data they use and use Wi-Fi networks to curb data use and keep phone bills low. The service, Google's first entry into the wireless industry, will work only on the company's Nexus 6 phones and will be hosted through Sprint and T-Mobile's networks, Google said in a statement. The phones will also be able to switch between the two networks, depending on which signal is stronger. Chris Ratcliffe | Bloomberg | Getty Images Google launches new wireless service Project Fi. The network, called Project Fi, will cost $20 a month plus $10 per gigabyte of data used. I ran into this company a few weeks ago when I was searching for some way to enable an old phone for emergency use. $5.00 a month for 100 minutes. (This post isn't spam. Just a suggestion if you want a cheap second second phone.) http://www.byowireless.com/

The service, called Project Fi, will automatically switch between the two networks and more than 1 million open, free Wi-Fi spots, depending on which signal is strongest. whats cool is that it will off free WI-Fi spots, how that is going to work I don't know, but it seems very interesting, Im thinking it will be only available in big cities like SF or Chicago or ny, anyone outside those immediate areas will have to use the data service provided...That is something Im interested, if Im in areas where there is free Wifi that could knock down a monthly plan to approximately $20-$35 a month....if you are in an area where you can get all free wifi then you are talking at a $20 dollar cell phone, unheard of by any major cell provider.
Check out Republic Wireless. I pay $21 month, unlimited talk text and data. They run on the Sprint network and any available free wifi. The phones switch automatically. Plans start as low as $5 month.
Google is going to piggyback on Sprint and TMobile... That sucks. I thought Google was hiring the best and the brightest, what happened to that? The simple fact I've experienced is that if you don't have Verizon you won't have 4G most places regardless of what the bullshit maps that the companies put out show. I had TMobile and couldn't find 4G anywhere. I hate those bastards. I'm going to go looking for WiFi to make a call or use a google map? No. Far better to get a dedicated GPS for your car [no cell connection required]. I got screwed up more than once when trying to change a gps destination in my Note 2 and couldn't get a TMobile data signal for many, many driving miles. Never again with that shit. Google stuff is krap. Android is krap, any kid on earth with $25 can sell apps, nobody checks to see how they interfere with other apps, and many of them do, some interfere with making phone calls. I missed three calls today because some pos app turned the sound off. The indicator showed that the ring volume was all the way up but never made a peep. And what are all the little icons on the top of my screen? Every app puts shit up there and it's almost all meaningless....
I pay $50 per month for 5gb at verizon with a "jetpack" that makes my whole house 4g wifi. Now what is it google is going to do so much better?
$27/month on h20 wireless here.. unlimited talk, text and 500 mb lte data..more than enough data for me.
