Finally amazon mandating back to work in the office 5 days a week, but seems like employees are already crying and bitching about it.
It's time to go back to the office like real grown up, enough of the work from home in your pjs nonsense....
Amazon doing the right thing and I hope thousands of other companies implement this same mandate very soon!!!

Amazon employees blast Andy Jassy’s RTO mandate: ‘I’d rather go back to school than work in an office again’

F that. Spent half my live in cubicles, don’t want same for my kids. The employers just using the bad job market to threaten people into this (or quoting). No way this is sustainable long term. Makes no sense economically or socially.

I have a friend new to AMZN development. I advised him to get an apartment near the office, and go in every day. After 1 year he is WAY ahead of the other new hires. Works with the senior engineers, leads and principles, and all the people who work on a war footing. Most of the other new hires are treating work like a continuation of school. Trying to just do a job in the most convenient way. Amazon is in an economic war. I guess some people just are not that serious.

Upon his 1 year review he figures he is 6 months ahead of those coming in 3 days a week. He has double the responsibilities, and has submitted way more code than those who are WFH. He will be easily be a millionaire by 30 with a good shot at a dec-millionaire by 40.

    You reap what you sow.

I feel sorry for them, as nothing is better than working from home.
Not sure why such a policy would be praise worthy.

Work from home 5 days a week is a full time traders dream.

Before WFH the dream was to quit the day job to trade full time. Which normally turned into a nightmare when attempted :(

Now you can keep the day job and trade full time.

An easy pay cheque coming in every month to pay the bills means you can concentrate on trading process and not results.

Yup all the corporations must save the commercial real estate. Could've turned them into affordable housings for so many that need a home but no, can't make a loss on those investments so off to 2-hour commutes each day you go, back to the office! Pollution, traffic accidents, loss of time and productivity, work-life balance, flexibility, workers' happiness, who cares. Workers are supposed to be miserable.

And the government can't do anything because it's market economy and democracy. @VicBee, you are right, Chinese communism is better. You win.

Maybe next year, after the election and multiple rate cuts by the Fed.

Nows not the best time to be looking for a tech job. Although things have improved compared to 18 months ago, when the likes of Google and Facebook were doing large layoffs. The job market is still weak and Amazon knows it.

  9. Quit anyway, if you work in tech and can't decide your future you are doing something wrong.
Quit and let the company look for someone else.

Amazon workers can quit working at Amazon.

Then work from home as a day trader.

Or be a digital nomad and work as a trader.
