Filtering out forum topics?

I've felt for a long time that it would be beneficial to the site to make specific subgroups hidden by user choice or for a specific time.

Options, ETFs, Fixed income etc. just to pick at random ones probably of little interest to say Futures traders or obviously Politics in off-topic.

 

I agree, it would be nice if we had a topic filter, even just on a "new post" search function
