Fighting Back Against Fake News BY ANDREW KLAVAN DECEMBER 11, 2016 Every liar from Hillary Clinton to Brian Williams is up in arms at what the liars at the New York Times are calling the "Fake News Onslaught." The make-believe outrage, largely aimed at censoring conservative opposition to the media's left-wing agenda, hit fever pitch last week after an armed man walked into the popular D.C. Pizza joint and music venue Comet Ping Pong and fired a rifle, claiming he had come to investigate the online rumors known as Pizzagate. Pizzagate is the notion that Hillary Clinton and her minions are running a satanic child sex ring in the restaurant's basement. I've taken the time to look into the theory and it's ridiculous, wholly unfounded, its "proofs" absurd. But when I mentioned that the theory was bunk on my podcast the other day, a few listeners became angry with me. One was so incensed she says she cancelled her subscription to The Daily Wire, the website that hosts my cast. This certainly testifies to how attached people become to these false ideas, and how dangerous they can be. So as a public service — and braving the anger of my readership — I'd like to expose a few other absurd fake news stories. 1. Police Target Blacks After a white police officer shot and killed a large black thug who was attacking him in Ferguson, Missouri, in 2014, witnesses falsely claimed that the thug had surrendered before being shot, putting up his hands and saying, "Don't shoot." This fed into the mainstream media thesis that police were unfairly targeting black youths for violence. Both the "hands up, don't shoot" scenario and the overall notion of widespread police bigotry have been thoroughly debunked and yet fake news sites such as CNN and the New York Times continue to keep up their onslaught of lies. Unlike the Pizzagate conspiracy theory, these lies have contributed to multiple deaths and repeated riots. Should fake news sites like CNN and the Times be shut down before more people die? 2. The Obama Economy is Strong Once again, we find the pernicious fake news site the New York Times at the center of this absurd story. Desperate to obscure the near-total failure of the Obama presidency, the Times has been using fake news sites like nytimes.com to spread the absurd notion that "Donald J. Trump can expect to inherit an economy that has added private sector jobs for 80 months, put another 178,000 people on payrolls last month and pushed the unemployment rate down to 4.6 percent today from 4.9 percent the previous month. Wage growth, though slower, is still running ahead of inflation, and consumers are expressing the highest levels of confidence in nearly a decade." In fact, while energy-rich states like Texas and Kentucky have thrived, the National Association of Counties reports that 93% of the nation's counties have not recovered from the 2008 crash. Median incomes are down. And the drop in the unemployment number disguises the fact that labor participation is at its lowest rate since the horrible Carter years. When you add people who would like to work or work more, the real unemployment rate is very close to ten percent. Oh, and by the way, those rising levels of confidence may have something to do with the fact Obama is leaving office. 3. The Climate is in Crisis This nonsensical story, promulgated by various fake left-wing news sites like NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, the New York Times, the Washington Post and others, was designed to arouse the sort of panic that causes people to foolishly give more power to the government. In fact, reports of disastrous climate change have been dialed back even by those most committed to spreading the panic. Just as important, the proposed "solutions" to the climate catastrophe have been shown to be ineffective and overpriced. These and other fake news stories have endangered lives, cost money and threatened, our liberties. It is time to take action against the fake news sites that spread these lies. Out of respect to the First Amendment, I believe our best approach is simply to ignore them entirely. Oh wait. We already do. https://pjmedia.com/andrewklavan/2016/12/11/fighting-back-against-fake-news/?singlepage=true
You can't give these people the benefit of the doubt and try to play nice with them for even a second. Trump is going to find that out right from the getgo. We've just gone through an election where we were inundated with fake news, up to our ears, with phony polls and propaganda from the left to try to elect Cankles. Not only were the polls fake, but as wikileaks demonstrated, a large number of leftist journalists were in kahoots to shape the news for Clinton. These things are the very definition of fake news. But now, the losers have begun a mission to root out sites that are the purveyors of news that exposed them. They started off with 'identifying' sites that were supposedly russian propaganda. The washpo was forced under threat of lawsuit to revise this article and disclaim the source as someone they couldn't vouch for. So now the left has brought in the cia to back them up. But at least there are members of the fbi who still have a modicum of integrity and refuse to go along with the scam. Also, the republican house has passed h.r. 6393 that empowers the gov't to investigate these so called propaganda websites and hints at giving the gov't the power to shut them down. Don't forget, the lists the left put together have such names as breitbart and infowars. The senate has yet to pass their own legislation, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if they pass the same thing. So we have phony journalists who continuously spouted phony polls, manufactured news with the direct approval of the clinton campaign, getting a scott free pass. How could these things be overlooked when examining fake news? They lead the list. And the websites who opposed clinton are under full review as being propaganda agents of Russia that the gov't should investigate and possibly shut down. And the republican congress is joining the leftist charge to accomplish this. This is the kind of cooperation from republicans that trump is going to get. The whole thing is nothing but an anti trump agit prop campaign that republicans in congress are more than happy to join in with. They think they're killing two birds with one stone. Get trump and continue the never ending war mongering against russia. It's not going to get better. It's going to get worse until either trump or the left, that is joined at the hip with the establishment republicans who run congress, are defeated. I'd like to see trump go back into war mode against these people and bring it all to a head. What side did the public take in the election? Trump or the establishment. Get a resolution on this because the establishment are not going to end their war against trump, so he shouldn't act as though there's a truce.
Actual phony polls, actual phony stories by reporters who were working with the clinton campaign, and actual voter fraud. An excellent account of some voter fraud in this article. https://www.lewrockwell.com/2016/12/no_author/hillarys-electoral-fraud/ And note that it is a reprint of an article from russian insider. But the republican congress is going to overlook all this, do nothing at all about it, not even discuss it, and instead pass legislation to go after russian propaganda. Presumably the article like I just referenced would be a prime example of what the republican congress would like to shut up. Articles exposing actual crimes. Printed by Russians. We expect these shenanigans from the democratic party. But these things are coming from the people republicans voted in. The republicans in congress are the enemy of the republican party and they thoroughly disgust me.
• CIA’s Blatant Lies Demolished By A Little Simple Logic (Craig Murray) I have watched incredulous as the CIA’s blatant lie has grown and grown as a media story – blatant because the CIA has made no attempt whatsoever to substantiate it. There is no Russian involvement in the leaks of emails showing Clinton’s corruption. Yes this rubbish has been the lead today in the Washington Post in the US and the Guardian here, and was the lead item on the BBC main news. I suspect it is leading the American broadcasts also. A little simple logic demolishes the CIA’s claims. The CIA claim they “know the individuals” involved. Yet under Obama the USA has been absolutely ruthless in its persecution of whistleblowers, and its pursuit of foreign hackers through extradition. We are supposed to believe that in the most vital instance imaginable, an attempt by a foreign power to destabilise a US election, even though the CIA knows who the individuals are, nobody is going to be arrested or extradited, or (if in Russia) made subject to yet more banking and other restrictions against Russian individuals? Plainly it stinks. The anonymous source claims of “We know who it was, it was the Russians” are beneath contempt. As Julian Assange has made crystal clear, the leaks did not come from the Russians. As I have explained countless times, they are not hacks, they are insider leaks – there is a major difference between the two. And it should be said again and again, that if Hillary Clinton had not connived with the DNC to fix the primary schedule to disadvantage Bernie, if she had not received advance notice of live debate questions to use against Bernie, if she had not accepted massive donations to the Clinton foundation and family members in return for foreign policy influence, if she had not failed to distance herself from some very weird and troubling people, then none of this would have happened. The continued ability of the mainstream media to claim the leaks lost Clinton the election because of “Russia”, while still never acknowledging the truths the leaks reveal, is Kafkaesque. [..] both Julian Assange and I have stated definitively the leak does not come from Russia. Do we credibly have access? Yes, very obviously. Very, very few people can be said to definitely have access to the source of the leak. The people saying it is not Russia are those who do have access. After access, you consider truthfulness. Do Julian Assange and I have a reputation for truthfulness? Well in 10 years not one of the tens of thousands of documents WikiLeaks has released has had its authenticity successfully challenged. As for me, I have a reputation for inconvenient truth telling. Contrast this to the “credible sources” Freedland relies on. What access do they have to the whistleblower? Zero. They have not the faintest idea who the whistleblower is. Otherwise they would have arrested them. What reputation do they have for truthfulness? It’s the Clinton gang and the US government, for goodness sake. In fact, the sources any serious journalist would view as “credible” give the opposite answer to the one Freedland wants. But in what passes for Freedland’s mind, “credible” is 100% synonymous with “establishment”. When he says “credible sources” he means “establishment sources”. That is the truth of the “fake news” meme. You are not to read anything unless it is officially approved by the elite and their disgusting, crawling whores of stenographers like Freedland. The worst thing about all this is that it is aimed at promoting further conflict with Russia. This puts everyone in danger for the sake of more profits for the arms and security industries – including of course bigger budgets for the CIA. As thankfully the four year agony of Aleppo comes swiftly to a close today, the Saudi and US armed and trained ISIS forces counter by moving to retake Palmyra. This game kills people, on a massive scale, and goes on and on.
Fhl makes excellent points. The republican congress is only nominally on the same side as Trump. In reality, they despise him and would be quite happy to see him dumped after one term. If it's even possible, they are more delusional than the democrats. At least some democrats recognize that they have a serious problem connecting with the white working class. The republicans seem to live in some alternative universe. Many still believe the way to win elections is to pander to hispanics and muslims. The way I see this playing out is they refuse to do anything Trump wants and act like Jeb! or some other loser is president. Eventually Trump will have to take to twitter and call them out and maybe ask his supporters to vote a few of them, that means you Paul Ryan, out of office.
If the Russians hadn't exposed the truth about Hilary she would have won. Maybe. So therefore they influenced the ignorance of Americans (by lowering it) which in turn influenced the election. See? And this is what we now need to protect against. Which is why I propose we pass a law making it illegal for the Russian government to retweet any tweet made by a sitting president.
What in fact did the Russians do? They published business emails from the DNC and Podesta. This is called transparency.
