My trading rig runs ATP on a Dell T5810 workstation (850 MBs internet), and I find the updates to be "laggy". It could be that the demands on Fidelity's servers is such that it's the "slowest link"... and having a faster computer won't make any difference. I asked Fidelity Tech Support about this and they were wishy-washy, saying "any newer, faster computer will do better than an older one"... DUH!... but can't say how much better/faster. I'd like to know if any ETers have a fast computer running ATP and their updates are "very fast... switching from one symbol to another and nearly instant population of the option chain" before I take a flier on buying a "gaming-fast" computer on which to trade options. (Slippage losses on a slow computer can be cumulitively ENORMOUS when you trade 100's lots and multiples!) If a FAST computer would make a difference, it would be worth the cost to reduce the slippage of a laggy platform. Anyone??
Good Morning Scataphagos, Get a powerful Server so you can trade the ES Futures and get fast fill orders and make fast money.
probably has nothing to do with your computer. What options are you looking at that cause slippage? limit orders
Hello Scataphagos, I trade SPY options and ES as well. Do not worry about the options slippage. There is nothing you can do about it. Use limit orders, then no slippage. Just take the slippage and get in the trade and make some money.
Hello MarkBrown, We need Trump to bring back 500:1 Forex leverage back to USA again. Obama banned it. Obama and Biden do not want American traders to be rich, that is why they banned 500:1 Leverage in Forex. Donald Trump need to be president for 10 years and remove this silly forex small leverage crap.
fidelity has the best and the fastest fill, on options and stocks. atp is not the scalping app, not its website, few seconds delay is not a big deal.
No particular issues. The slowness than concerns me is the lag in populating the option chain... cutting that down, if possible, is worth significant money cumulatively when prices are moving fast. If you're trading options out a month or two, you may not notice much price slippage. If you trade close in, a 5-10 second lag might cost $.20 or more. On a 100 lot, that's $2000 in slippage. IF a faster computer can mitigate that, it's worth it.
I am not with Fidelity, but with IB. For me a better computer has helped a little. But, I also got another fortend trading platform than TWS, which is slow. I understand that for example DAS trader sends the order to interactive, but for some reason the order show up as filled, some seconds before on DAS and other frontends than on TWS. IB s smart order can also be very slow at the market open. So if order dirrect from an other frontend it helps. Falcon trading computer and Fredie Z has some articles about slippage. They sell trading computers
