Fib on NinjaTrader

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by bmwhendrix, Sep 9, 2013.

  1. I would like to have a default fib that shown only the 0, 50 and 100 %
. When I change the settings and save as default, it never saves.

Is there a way, or am I doing something incorrectly?

    Thanks,

  2. That you are using fib at all is for the most part what you are doing incorrectly. Just because when price falls it may bounce off of a fib line does not give one any trading edge since there is no way to know which fib line it will bounce off of or if all of the fib lines will break.

  3. Thanks oracle. I do not use fibs. I think they are garbage. I do like to take notice of 50% pullbacks though. That is all I use it for and would just like to get rid of all the excess.

I can eyeball it about as well though.

1- Put fib on your chart
    2- Right click anchor line
    3- Click Properties
4- Make sure Template says "Default"
    5- Set your 0,50,100% fibs
    6- Click apply
7- Right click anywhere in the fib box (but not on anything like text location, ect)
    8- Click Manage Templates
8- Click Save (name of template should be still be default at this time)
9- Box pops up and asks "Save current template as Default"?
    10- Click OK
11- Click OK in Fib Retracement Properties
12- Fib Retracement Properties box should disappear
13- Fib retracement tool should work as you want now

Took me awhile to learn this actually. Years ago. :(

But there are other ways to use the Fib tool in NinjaTrader that has nothing to do with retracements.

  7. Thanks GiantDog!

I would never have figured it out.
