Hey guys, been a lurker in the forum for a little while. I’ve read an old thread on here and done a fair bit of googling and I’m surprised there’s no up-to-date comparison of the services available. So far I’ve tried Ransquawk, Trade The News, Benzinga Pro, Hammerstone Markets, Trader Exchange. They all do a pretty good job and they seem to hit upon a headline here or there before the others, if I could afford them all I’d do it lol. But I have also heard that certain news services get news before the rest, and that there is a ‘news flow’ and so I was wondering if there’s a general consensus on what was the fastest news service. Maybe there’s some I’ve missed? I’ve heard of Fly On The Wall and am curious about it, same with Deal Reporter,’they seem to always be breaking M&A news, any body used those?
All the news you mentioned are not really news outlets but rather adding own content on top of news. They employ a few journalists who write stories on a few companies that's it. There are only three major news services in the western world, Bloomberg News, Reuters News, and Dow Jones News. The full cables of the former 2 are quite expensive though Reuters less so than Bloomberg. I use the Global Economics tape of Dow Jones News and find it to be extremely well tailored to traders. It covers everything the other news outlets do but also some specialist coverage on commodities and currencies that I find somewhat inferior in Reuters and Bloomberg. A comprehensive news feed with Dow Jones costs about 150-200usd per month. If you can't afford that then Briefing dot Com sells a pretty good feed for 99 but somewhat limits itself more to US equity markets. Did I forget to mention Twitter? Many well timed trades I placed this year off Trump comments onTwitter. The ones you mentioned are crap imho. Before you choose any you should ask yourself what you need this exactly for. All mentioned feeds only make sense when you trade on news. For research and analysis you don't need those.
NewsEdge v8 is not cheap. You are paying for a news aggregator so each service has a cost. I would say it starts at >$100 and can get as high as $300. If you email or PM me, I can send you my contact there. He can provide pricing and a demo to try. Before 2010, I paid for all feeds except DJones new and I think I paid about $250.
Which feeds does this service include? Quite pricey given that it does not include the DJ broad tape.
You have to ask the salesperson. To me, it was well worth the cost. Before I used NewsEdge v8, there were times I did not know what was occurring with a symbol until the next day. This is realtime so you will know what others know as they do. Look, if you are a part-time trader or investor, paying for services is hard to reconcile what is "expensive." If you are running a trading business and you are a fiduciary for other's money or deriving your living from trading, you need the tools that give you the path to success. When I traded full time as a MM, I paid for Esignal, NewsEdge v8 and LiveVolPro which came to almost $900/month. Sounds like a lot but a Bloomberg back the was about $1800/month and has a crappy interface. What I had was better for me and cost less. It is the cost of doing business. I'd prefer not to post the sales person's contact publicly. He will answer all questions.
I thought you use the service, why don't you know which need feeds it carries? Also why you cannot share the sales contact? Perhaps that person should not be in sales if he does not give everyone implicit permission to drop his name in regards to the product he is marketing. Man, you are a super nice guy, I believe honest and upright. But your secrecy syndrome is driving me nuts. About everything, whether starting from commission, to margin, to sales contacts, to volume, to account application information, everything is a secret and can't be publicly shared. It really is that which keeps me away from wanting to give you guys a shot. I can't stand this secrecy. If it starts like this I only reckon it will be much worse once being customer.
One of the sponsors here... @JigsawTrading ... supposedly he's got something he claims is as good as all 3 wire services. Free trial then $39/mo. You should try it out and let us know how it is. https://elitetrader.com/et/threads/...foe-get-on-the-right-side-of-the-news.330551/
