False data on Feed for IB

  1. I was looking at the dividends for GLOP ($8.48). TWS shows this:

There doesn't seem to be ANY dividend for GLOP. This is a common problem. If there is a special div, it shows as a recurring dividend often. here, there is NO dividend scheduled, yet IB shows it as a recurring VERY large dividend.
    Why does this happen?
Why does IB not correct it?
Where can I get valid information?

    any help is appreciated.

Down in the corner of the main TWS window it says: Data provided by GFIS. Give them a call.

I see dividend errors all the time (on various platforms and services). Sometimes it's the last quarterly or monthly value. Sometimes it's the last dividend times 4 or 12. Sometimes it's the trailing 12 months including special dividends. Usually the yield is correct in spite of the dividend value but don't count on it.

Every data provider has their own way of doing things while trying to keep track of 100,000 equities.

I cross-check with Yahoo or Google Finance if something seems off.

  4. IMO, IBKR dividend data sucks.
I wish they would focus on getting basic things like this right rather than ESG nonsense.

I know the are things in my portfolio where reported data is incorrect.

That is one of the myriad of issues our economies are facing due to human error. Can't expect underpaid monkeys in back offices to get it right all the time, or can/should we? Things will improve tremendously once ai takes over those roles. It's simply not baked into our DNA to accurately perform highly repetitive work.
