F declared their regular dividend and a special dividend of .18. My Calls with a $13 Strike are now 12.82. Humph.
This is normal for special dividends. I just recently had my FPI options changed after their special dividend.

So the Cliff notes are...If you hold 100 shares of shit, you will now still hold 100 shares of shit. Thanx for the update.
That method is still much better than making the options (or just some strikes) Non Standard (NS). Hopefully all the major programs out there can handle such changes.
I'm trying to figure out the motivation for a company to do a special dividend. I'll have more of diluted shares because of DRIP, which I'm in, or I'd get a check if not in DRIP. What is the meaning of what a company does with excess cash? I've heard criticism of share buy backs, "That's the best thing they can think of? Aren't there any M&A opportunities?"" I've heard criticism of dividends. "That money should go to research, modernization, etc..." I think I'm too simple minded for this type of thing. Or maybe I need that second cup of coffee...
at the end of the day if you don’t or aren’t going to get a dividend or aren’t going to get your capital back, the ownership in the company is worthless. the counter to your argument is that the officers of companies that have to maintain dividend payouts are more prudent with their cash.
Oh gosh, I didn't think I was making an argument. If that's what you got out of my post, I worded it poorly. Like I said, it's early. Cut a brother a break.
Pretty sure it doesn't matter anymore. I've held F for years, and have lost so much in equity, the dividend is exactly = shit. Who the fuck cares, man. You are not wording anything poorly, other than not realizing that you are trying to put perfume on a pig. It's a POS stock, so dividends matter not.
