    • Briefing document describes 'maximum disruption' agenda
    • Forecasts democratic principles 'will be largely undermined'
    • German foreign ministry vows to work closely with new US administration

BERLIN, Jan 18 (Reuters) - Germany's ambassador to the United States has warned that the incoming Trump administration will rob U.S. law enforcement and the media of their independence and hand big tech companies "co-governing power", according to a confidential document seen by Reuters.

The briefing document, dated Jan. 14 and signed by Ambassador Andreas Michaelis, describes Donald Trump's agenda for his second White House term as one of "maximum disruption" that will bring about "a redefinition of the constitutional order - maximum concentration of power with the president at the expense of Congress and the federal states."

"Basic democratic principles and checks and balances will be largely undermined, the legislature, law enforcement and media will be robbed of their independence and misused as a political arm, Big Tech will be given co-governing power," it says.

Trump's transition team had no immediate comment on the ambassador's assessment.

The German foreign ministry said U.S. voters chose Trump in a democratic election, and it would "work closely with the new U.S. administration in the interests of Germany and Europe."

The outgoing government of Chancellor Olaf Scholz has largely refrained from direct public criticism of Trump since the election, but the ambassador's confidential assessment offers a blunt view from a senior German official.

Ambassadors are not replaced automatically with the formation of a new government, unless a change is deemed necessary for diplomatic or other reasons.

The document cites the judiciary, and especially the U.S. Supreme Court, as central to Trump's attempts to further his agenda, but says that despite the court's recent decision to expand presidential powers, "even the biggest critics assume that it will prevent the worst from happening."

Michaelis sees control of the Justice Department and FBI as key to Trump reaching his political and personal goals, including mass deportations, retribution against perceived enemies and legal impunity.

He says Trump has broad legal options to force his agenda on the states, saying "even military deployment within the country for police activities would be possible in the event of declared 'insurrection' and 'invasion'."

The 1878 Posse Comitatus Act bars the federal military from participating in domestic law enforcement, with some exceptions.

Michaelis also foresees a "redefinition of the First Amendment," saying Trump and billionaire X owner Elon Musk are already taking actions against critics and non-cooperating media companies.

"One is using lawsuits, threatening criminal prosecution and licence revocation, the other is having algorithms manipulated and accounts blocked," he says in the document.

Musk's repeated endorsement of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) ahead of the Feb. 23 national election has drawn ire in Berlin, but the government has stopped short of unanimously leaving his platform.

Berlin endured a particularly difficult relationship with the United States during the first Trump administration, facing costly tariffs and criticism over its failure to meet the NATO target on defence expenditure.

Because he, and only he, knows.

Are you sure he wasn't told all this by Meghan Markle? She seems to like to stir things up.

There are just hours left for the current president to act, the MAGA crowd will just see it as a power move and respect the boldness.

A progressive friend has left Baltimore for the week as he is concerned about a false flag/Reichstad event tomorrow. The guy is level headed, but he thinks even if it's a ten percent chance, he does but want to be caught up in it.

Ah well.. It will likely pass uneventfully, and most progressives are proper egits. Not dumb with a side order of dumb like Trumpers, smart but so dumb instead.

What they accuse Trump of, Biden has already done.
Hey world, Trump's tariffs are meant to fund nationalism at the expense of globalism.
Good management seeks sustained success, not radical whipsaws for the sake of trading manipulation.
Robin Hood stole from the rich, what shall we call the ruling class (scumbags) that steals from the middle-class.

    A Perfect Storm

Governments transferring power to a new government, foreign governments alerting others, promises of peace in the world by those also saying they want to take control of other countries with military if necessary, and the increasing radicalization within the U.S. military...

What can possibly go wrong ???

I have close friends in the military, high ranking officers planning to retire over the next few years because they see the increasing number of radicalization within our U.S. military ranks...becoming to difficult for my military friends to weed out the home grown radicals.

The scary aspect, although there's been increasing number of arrests in the U.S. military of radicals in the U.S. military. Most are dishonorably discharged and civilian law enforcement do not have access to the records of active duty soldiers and the military records of civilians who are now veterans.

This is how these weeds slip back into the civilian world undetected by law enforcement. Hopefully, new laws will be created to prevent that. If not, shit will hit the fan.

My siblings and I were raised in a military family, my mother is a widow of a military officer, my spouse and I both served in the military...I exited as a Captain but she stayed in the military to exit as a Major. Both of use had initially intended to be career soldiers but that changed after we saw too much that should not be seen.

Since the Pandemic has ended...I have more U.S. buddies exiting the U.S. military or retiring and then moving north to Canada like my spouse and I did many years ago...homes in both countries. These are all former elite military soldiers.

We all feel it...a perfect storm.

I recently sold one of my properties in Stoneham, Quebec and moved further north to better skiing, steeper slopes, cross country skiing, winter camping, and rowing on the St. Lawrence river when the summer returns...more of a rural community up here at Le Massif de Charlevoix Ski Resort. Slopes in the winter and rowing on the water in the summer helps to get away from the crap especially when it hits the fan.

There are recent warnings too (New Orleans and Las Vegas).

One member here at ET who hates Biden and enjoy ushering in a new Trump era while at the same time saying he "would NUKE the United States". That's the thinking of a home grown terrorist and there are more of them with that mentality within the United States...naive about the threat to the world is the person they see in the mirror.

below picture not mine but the view is not that far away from my new home

One of my brother's and friends I grew up with in Kentucky are here for 4 days at Le Massif de Charlevoix because they wanted to get away from from the U.S. to do some skiing and watch the Notre Dame / Ohio State national championship football game tomorrow night. They're all Notre Dame alumni...all from U.S. military families who now also have that feeling my spouse and I had many years ago.

It was time to spend more time abroad...too much radicalization in the United States.

Anything Biden does is pointless. w/o an act of Congress it will simply be ignored. SCOTUS cannot enforce w/o the former or a willing DOJ. They can't sell to Musk in violation of the ruling so it will simply remain in limbo until some economic interest results in a sale, disposition, etc.
