    https://www.statista.com/statistics...sia had the,countries at 144.7 million people.

Looking at the two sources of data above, a euro country's contribution to the European economy and population by country, you can get a sense of those who contribute most from those who contribute least.

Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Poland, Belgium and Sweden have both the largest economies and the largest populations. They represent an economic output of $13B for a combined 342 million people.

The laggars are Romania, Greece and Hungary ($707M for 40.2 million people) while the superstars are Austria and Ireland ($988M for 14 million people).

By comparison, the US in 2020 had a GDP of $21T for a population of 330 million people.

  2. Exactly per citizen output for GDP.... it is easy to claim you are the best by the sum total while neglecting the fact there is an army of sloths who do little. This is a deincentivisor to working plebs. If A works to products in surplus or completes a tedious task and B does little or next to nothing except vegetate and consume goods and services. While both have the same social benefits and receive the same rights and privileges what is the rational for a good work ethic? What occurs is a pervasive complacency with a diminishing output. Meritocracy will never be achieved by humans.

So what do you suggest doing?

  4. Reassignment for persons that are non performing or noncontributory. Back in the factory I new that every person was good at a skill or task. An attempt was made to accommodate them and keep the place running. When worse came to worse they got a broom and started cleaning. If you do the math in the US there are 341M citizens. The reported labor force is 170M which actually translates into a 48.9% utilization.

Was that in a commune or communist country? In the US and many other countries, if you don't perform you lose your job. Only times I've seen non performing workers reassigned to a less demanding jobs (even sleep in your car) is in hardcore union labor environments.

  6. Exactly......when a bargaining unit representative shows up it gets stupid extremely quickly. With a nanny state where citizens are coddled and kept FDH {Fat, dumb and happy) GDP suffers because lack of performance does not equal resource disbursement.
Economic input contributions should equal resource output. GDP laggards should ramp up to match other members of the EU.
My Uncle escape from East Germany before the Wall came down. He gave a first hand account how the economic system under Communist rule really plays out. Under the new system economic growth is happening in a more rapid manner. Other issues with GDP in the region include a declining birthrate, African refuge influx and a war next door. There is still. A high degree of national pride in individual nation states. Infrastructure improvements would assist in evening out the member states output.

Yes, this is quite rational; you must be German!
Work ethics is primarily tied to geography. The further away from the equator and afflicted with cold weather, the more active one needs to be in order to survive; build a solid house, cut wood to stay warm, grow vegetables at specific times, farm animals for milk and meat... Warm weather people can do with less stringent essentials.
Add a layer of religious indoctrination favoring hard work as a sure path to heaven and soon enough you begin to see cultural differences developing over centuries.

Its amazing the German public voted for an East German politician like Merkel to lead the country. I guess the public already forgot about the STASI psychos. The best movie about them is the 2006 German film Das Leben der Anderen.
