ET seems to have no own email server, rather uses google email servers. BUT: the google email servers have the bad habit of delivering emails only to other big companies! Example: I have a gmail.com address and ET emails are delivered correctly. Then I changed my address (at a small company), but now the emails (for example notification emails) from ET are no longer arriving because the google servers don't deliver to this new address, although everything is proper like DNS MX entries, being not listed in any spam list etc. Still, google servers don't deliver emails to such small companies. The problem even starts with the "reconfirmation email": ie. if one changes the email address here on ET then one has to verify it from the new address. But that reconfirmation email never arrives at the new address! And w/o the reconfirmation one only has limited access on ET... Anybody else experienced this problem? Are the ET admins aware of this problem?
Hi Baron, I got your email, thx, and sent the following reply via normal email from my new email address. But I'm not sure whether the email went thru to you, so also posting my reply here (addresses hidden with XXXXX):
Dude, discovers volatility modeling in 2020... shortly thereafter discovers how email works. Or doesn't.
Hey @destriero, you are again off-topic, as usual with you, you SOB. FYI: I'm the mail admin, DNS admin, server admin, network admin, and on top of all that also "thecoder", and of course also a trader... Doing this all for more than 10 years now...
That's nice, but with this new address I'm not receiving the email notifications. Normally I get a notification when someone posts to a thread that I started. But today nothing came in when it should... :-( Should I better switch back to my old address? PS: just got also your 2nd email, thx. Ok, I'll watch this for another day and then decide which of the addresses to use.
I did, it's not there. I'll now analyze also the logs of the mail server. BTW, since this is a new domain. the DNS records (especially MX) maybe have not been replicated world-wide yet... Ok, I'll wait some more days. Thx for your help.
If Google were indeed doing this it would have been discovered and publicized by people far smarter in this area than you who had far more to lose from it than you not getting a confirmation email from ET! Stop and think for a minute about the implications of such a massive and far reaching conspiracy on Google's part versus the chance there is a technical issue on your end. It takes a shocking amount of hubris/lack of self awareness to assume that it must be this massive Google conspiracy that would be trivial to uncover if true rather than a simple mistake by the only person in the world to apparently have been subjected to this massive conspiracy, no? Life skills here people.
@Sig, then answer this: why does it work when Baron sends manually to that new address, but not work if the system sends to the same address? I simply don't get it (pun intended ). As already said, I'l shortly analyze also the mail server logs, unfortunately a complicated task to do. More on this later...
