That until some controversial thing happens and AWS decide to shutdown all the Ethereum nodes hosted there without notice
I was thinking exactly in the same realm. I think Amazon made a huge long term error when they shut down Parler, how can you trust them after that??? I personally use AWS but no one cares about what I do.
Cloud is nice for backup solutions or for non business critical setups where you can survive without them for sometime until you figure out an alternative. The best & the safest thing is either to get your own servers (fully owned) and rent racks in a DC (The expensive option) or to just rent servers from a hosting company (More affordable). Cloud is in reality a concentration of power in the hands of a few companies (Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, etc...). It's a brilliant business model until regulators step in & they will eventually will, yet late as usual.
