What are your essential daily reads (blogs etc) in the non-mainstream business media? What keeps you on top of latest trading ideas and news (in a global sense). - Arb
Funny you mentioned this...because I decided to stop reading news last week -- I removed all the news sites from my browser favorites. I feel so much more freer...now that I don't have to feel compelled to read/follow news. I don't need trading ideas -- I already know what and how to trade on my own.
If you a technical trader and you wish to live in the tape I guess thats an option. I trade and hedge those trades in a world driven by global macros events. For me there is no alternative.
Reuters, Platts, Drudge, and Google News Alerts. I have 400+ alerts set up for companies, key words, ports, people, etc. etc. etc. It's a constant flow of information.
ft.com (it's worth the ~$50USD/month) quant.stackexchange.com news.google.com On the weekends I read a lot of FT. I usually try to read one finance, business, or quant book a week. Foreign Affairs is a great weekend publication. I watch PBS News Hour in the evenings after dinner, mainly if there's anything going on that I'm interested in.
I love zerohedge for very quick daily overview. His bottom line must be enhanced by his End of Days persona. He cannot be that smart and that wrong.
