Erdogan threatens to declare war on Israel and send military to Gaza in chilling warning Turkey's president appears to have threatened to intervene in Gaza in an impassioned speech at a pro-Palestine rally this evening. Recep Tayyip Erdogan delivered a speech to a rally this afternoon in which he told attendees Israel was responsible for war crimes, and framed Hamas as "freedom fighters". In comments that have prompted Israeli outcry, and led the country to withdraw its diplomatic presence, president Erdogan suggested assaults on Gaza constituted a "massacre". In the same speech, he said that Turkey can "come at any night unexpectedly” to ecstatic reception from hundreds of thousands of attendees.
Took near a week longer than I expected but I expect Egypt also will move now. Last time I was in Egypt was 2012 and there were significant security problems in Siani with non-governmental groups forcing us to stay in Sharm El-Sheikh so I'm not sure how easy it is for Cairo to project force there but it's probably not an issue. This today and tomorrow is Turkey's 100th anniversary. There is a chance Turkey has acquired nukes from Pakistan, Ergodan has been talking for years about Israel's nukes bugging him.
Probably can't arm them though.. However Israel does not have a snowball's chance against Turkey. Another country with plenty of reactors and a research reactor capable of dirty bombing tiny Israel. Mutually assured destruction is effectively in place allowing Turkey to flex muscle.
I was wondering about that. Can they dismantle them to make a dirty bomb quickly? Could Pakistan,Russia,N Korea etc teach them to arm and use them? I previously didn't like Turkey but Im on their side with this one.The Israeli government is pure evil and needs to be stopped.A nuclear armed foe will make Israel and The US behave differently.
It's really funny how posters here claimed NATO is stronger union than ever. Although I think Erdogan is bluffing and just negotiating for something else. Likely wants to trade get all Russian oil and resell without sanctions
Turkey has been a pain in ass for NATO for some time.Wouldn't be surprised if they are kicked out soon and The US tries to take back thier nukes. The US won't sell certain weapons to Turkey including the F 35. It'll be interesting if The US tries to take back thier nukes and Turkey says no.
Well the research reactors vary in function but can produce some very dirty isotopes, all depends, sometimes these have short half-lifes so need to be made locally and needed for medical stuff or things like lightning deflectors (the opposite of conductors). Even Colombia has or had a research reactor for these purposes in Bogota. Its a bit like 9/11 and jets as weapons, any industrialised country can completely fuck another, they just choose not to talk about it fearing Pandora's box etc. Turkey is perfectly capable of making a hydrogen bomb, the engineering and physics is just not that difficult but they don't even need to. They do have a commercial reactor due to come online this year if memory serves.
