Enthusiasm

Nowadays I see more and more job ads going like "we're looking for X (technology/systems/whatever) enthusiasts".

It's no longer enough to apply to a job, you gotta enthusiastically apply to the job.

"assembly line chicken plucking enthusiasts"
"door opening enthusiasts"
"lift button presser enthusiasts"
"toilet cleaning enthusiasts"

Better be enthusiastic or no soup for you

 

Soup enthusiast wanted. Slurpers and crouton crunching freaks need not apply.

 

It's part of the progressive's language. Sad to see, but it's true.
