Hi, not exactly what you want, and what you want does not not exist, however, the Crude VIX may be of use to you. http://www.cboe.com/micro/oilvix/introduction.aspx .

There is the COT (commitment of traders) also, which lets you track open interest in energy and anything else, available at CFTC.gov, you get an email each Friday after the close, here is the last one: http://www.cftc.gov/marketreports/commitmentsoftraders/index.htm, I know of some Pro's who use this but I find no use in it, but look into it at least, you never know.

I know you said you are new but you understand an adv/dec indicator for oil could not exist because the contract is made up of oil, not a basket.

Perhaps someone else knows of something, I use different analysis than what your looking for, but I have been around long enough to know what is out there.

    Good Luck!

  3. 1) All of that "traditional" technical stuff can work from time to time but never as consistently as you'll want and hope for. :(
    2) You have to become a "master of everything" and know when to move from one thing to another ..... and back. :)
