I am not smart enough and do not have the data, but many, many, times during the last couple of week, between 3:30 and 4 :00 - and now closer to 4:00, there is a up blow out supported by lots and lots of volume. What is going on here? Can anyone follow the price and volume and have something to say?
You ain't been around long, have ya? Been that way for years, decades even. Algo trading, big boys running the stops, shaking off 1% equity day traders. Easy money for them WS wolves.
3 main sides in my opinion. Regulated funds and ETF's are required to buy assets as per their mandate. Net cash flows can be calculated near day end. Most day traders close their shorts an hour before close or earlier with the understanding of the above point. Bad news rarely comes around this time frame. If the chances of negative news is low the next day then it is probable that the follow day will be positive. On any given random day there is ~7/10 chance the market will be positive vs the previous close. On this note it's kind of funny/sad that trading can be as simple as buying pre-market dips and holding to close lol.
I disagree ..... the end of day rally is new. Sure it has happened on some days in the past but not as often as now.
Never said it was a rally. Large moves after 3:30p, more like 3:45 mostly. Up or down. Been there for decades.
I do not have access to the tick data. How is it done? There has to be some tricks that get the end of day to spike.
