Election Fears.

  1. Republican Right Embraces Its Long, Hypocritical Tradition of Pandering to Fear.

They're back. Like the fourth sequel to a bad horror movie, the Republican Right has once again chosen to embrace its long ignoble, hypocritical tradition of pandering to -- and stoking -- fear.

As the election nears, their ads are filled with images of ISIL terrorists, Ebola viruses, Secret Service breaches, and "porous" borders through which knife-wielding Muslim extremists are surely infiltrating every corner of our society.

It's not just disgusting. It's also hypocritical. The fact is that the Republicans have an abysmal record when it comes to defending the security of ordinary Americans.

Last week, the New York Times reported that:

Secretary of State John Kerry, pronounced that climate change, if left unaddressed, will result in the end of times: “Life as you know it on Earth ends,” Kerry said.

  3. Maybe. In 1,000 years.

Ebola, ISIS, Obamacare, and NaziCrats holding the Senate in 2014, are more imminent threats.

(How can one be a career politician... LYING ABOUT EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN, YEAR AFTER YEAR... ALL FOR PERSONAL/POLITICAL GREED... and still be able to look themself in the mirror? Are there no morals any longer?)

  4. From another bastion of right wing conservatism.
WHO: 10,000 new Ebola cases per week could be seen
GENEVA (AP) — The death rate in the Ebola outbreak has risen to 70 percent and there could be up to 10,000 new cases a week in two months, the World Health Organization warned Tuesday.
He told reporters that if the world's response to the Ebola crisis isn't stepped up within 60 days, "a lot more people will die" and there will be a huge need to deal with the spiraling numbers of cases.

pointing out hypocrisy is the ultimate drag. It is all around us on both sides. And when nailed, instead of admitting hypocrisy, it is defended because the other side does it also.

It's much easier to manipulate people if one can stoke their fears. Republicans figured that out decades ago.

Democrats could travel the same road, of course, but they have no Karl Rove to show them the way.

  10. I recall an ad where a Paul Ryan double pushed an elderly woman in a wheelchair off a cliff.

Actually I recall the ultimate fear ad, an ad that still probably claims the record for sleaziest piece of campaigning ever. When LBJ ran against Barry Goldwater, he ran the infamous ad with a little girl picking daiseys, only to be obliterated by an atom bomb mushroom cloud, a sight viewers of that era were very familiar with.

More recently, Joe Biden counseled blacks that republicans planned to put them back in chains.

The difference with republican ads now is that the issues they are presenting are both very real and are being handled with criminal negligence by obama.
