Many on the right in America love this guy, though he's pretty left-wing on many other issues. I think it does bring up a good humanitarian versus utilitarian debate. Do we give the authority to the state or the people? When weak on crime as El Salvador used to be, criminals effectively controlled the lives of the people and there was little freedom. Now Human Rights advocates are saying the government is restricting the rights of the people. I personally feel that El Salvador is many multiples better off than they were before when MS-13 was running rampant, killing, raping, and extorting wherever they went. The murder rate went from the highest in the world to on par with Canada. Other violent crimes plummeted as well. Is it perfect? No. However, it's impossible to police perfectly. Bad police need to be held to account, but without a police presence and without locking criminals up we see how bad things can get. I think we have gone too far in this country when it comes to letting criminals/mentally ill people do whatever they want with slaps on the wrist. It's time to rethink the 4th and 8th Amendment. Do we need the hardcore crackdown that might have been necessary in El Salvador? No. However, I think it's pretty easy to get drug dealers off the streets if we weren't so strict with Amendment #4. It would also be able to detain people who need to be detained if we weren't so strict with Amendment #8.

Issue special hunting licenses, rewarding vigilante's with mansions, billions and tv shows glorifying death wish infinity.
Things are getting pretty obvious, we're getting paid to imprison ourselves.
