... in the future, just a few years after FB's $19 billion acquistion of Whatsapp. Recall back in 1998 when ICQ was bought by AOL for $300 million, which is peanuts by today's standards. http://online.wsj.com/news/articles...ine.wsj.com/article/SB944015112189615576.html
not to mention Whatsapp has a GRAND TOTAL OF 50 EMPLOYEES!! Snapchat has like 15 developers!! This shit is off the charts. But its going to continue. TWTR next buyout by GOOG?? if its a mobile app, its a target! ok..back to learning how to code.
This is how the big money is made nowadays. Maybe 80-100 years ago, during Livermore's time, trading was the wild west, the new frontier. That is no longer the case. People who genuinely want to make it rich would be better off learning how to code and churn out apps. Maybe you will strike the jackpot, maybe you won't. But sure beats the chances of becoming the next Steve Cohen.
I agree. With the entire world now online via smartphones, the next 10 years will be nothing but a "coding/big data" gold rush. R.I.P. privacy
I'm a software architect with an idea: - app to consolidate passwords - becomes a portal - secured with a fingerprint - it also becomes an app-framework with total security One aspect to it is IP server verification. Prevents spoofing. SSL prevents listening.
Food stamps to Billionaire. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-...der-goes-from-food-stamps-to-billionaire.html
Yah all these posts (tongue in cheek, I know) are telling me a lot. The next great fortune will be made on the SHORT side. Basically what Livermore, JP Kennedy and Bernard Baruch did back in 1929.
Just a clueless passbyer, who have no clue about outside world beyond my bid and ask-how long it would take to recup 19B (one more time-B) from messaging service? Just curious thank you
Market loved the deal. FB price hit new all time high today of 70. $177 billion market cap. A quick google said Zuckerberg owns 28% of facebook. Although his recent deals like todays may have diluted him below this. Zuckerberg now worth circa $50billion. If FB goes over $100, Zuckerberg going to be richer than Carlos Slim.
Founders of Whatsapp are committed to no advertising. Users would flee to other chat apps if they try to charge more than 99 cents per year. So, who knows how $19 Bs will be earned back.
