Does the country have to be shutdown? Canadian stats, USA might be the same with 10x factor. Canadian 2019-2020 COVID-19 virus pandemic 2019-2020: 6,258 cases Canadian 2009 H1N1 influenza virus pandemic 2008-2009: 23,376 cases 2009-2010: 39,018 cases
I feel like it’s a science experiment. Canada everything is pretty much shut down. Essentials are running including supply chain, etc. Some provinces have ramped up and shut down construction and many more non essential services. Seen Halifax gave a woman a fine and towed her car for going to a closed park, Newfoundland has arrested and fined a couple people who didn’t self isolate after travel. I’m not in U.S but articles I keep seeing if Florida and New York you’d think theirs nothing wrong. I mean you’ll never know how bad it could get if every country shuts down so might as well have one run it’s path.
In Miami, there is a curfew from 10pm to 5am and everything is pretty much shut down. A little later than it should have. I ride my bike everywhere and it’s pretty ghost townish. The Parks I’ve seen are closed with police tape, literally. No use of boat Ramps.
We´ll see how you like the shutdown if you are not even allowed to ride your bike alone, as is th case in Madrid. But best of luck to you and other Floridians, strict shutdown or not, this virus is a huge drag on people´s life, and a real danger to many. As of the science experiment, Sweden is still following it (I repost some links). Singapore is still going almost as normal, it will start to close schools one day per week from next week, if I read properly. South Korea so far dealt successfully with the virus with limited restrictions, despite being one of the most exposed to it. https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidn...navirus-approach-is-so-different-from-others/ https://www.cnbc.com/2020/03/30/sweden-coronavirus-approach-is-very-different-from-the-rest-of-europe.htm https://theconversation.com/why-sin...ponse-worked-and-what-we-can-all-learn-134024
I'd say too extreme, put social distancing, work for home if possible, close pubs and gyms, limit people in shops. Do this 2 weeks earlier and you'll have a less steep up curve which is easier to manage. Easier to spot down curve when the peaks hit and 80% ish have it, mostly without knowing they have it thankfully. And haven't got to close everything and the cost of doing so is much much smaller than a full lock down. 1 week into lockdown here, killing a lot of companies, 2 weeks to go, maybe 5 If it was the plague and it was killing 50% then YES, everyone on full house arrest, but massively over hyped mild flu, in the UK numbers aren't even going to get close the normal Flu. Yes i've downgraded it to mild flu!!!
Mild flues don’t usually have military building hospitals in convention Centers, turning parks into respitory Centers and have the floating hospital roll into town.
We got police with drones filming lone dog walkers on remote hills all alone and people going nuts at how there going to kill us all. Israel, no shut downs follow them, just letting it burn out, cost more lives, but ruin less lives, a balance I prefer. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/israel Heart attacks in the UK spiking, too many people sat at home, comfort eating and just becoming in active, when people become in active they die, simple as, only 1 week in to.
Rate of infection is higher, so it's causing a surge which means more hospital beds. In the UK forecast to kill 1/2 what Flu kills each year maybe even 1/4, so mild flu. Death rate massively over media hyped!!
Your sources on Singapore are dead wrong. Schools have been completely closed down, the city is under strict lock down, even returning Singaporeans are forced to quarantine and forced to wear tracking devices. Nothing is normal in Singapore.
