td ameritrade shows bars for iwm qqq spy for 24 hours while ib only have data from 4am to 8pm. Where do other bars come from in tdameritrade?
I wish it did.....all stocks should trade 24/7 like cryptocurrencies. It's 2021 not 1972. Money never sleeps and wallstreet shouldn't either. It's time to expand the actual trading day from 4am to 8pm!!! Iwm trades like all other etfs and stops trading at 8pm eastern time
Yes, it trades 24/5 at TDA: https://www.tdameritrade.com/tools-and-platforms/after-hours-trading.page “ 24/5 trading is available on our thinkorswim trading platforms. The list of available securities now includes FXI, SPY, EEM, GLD, SLV, DIA, UNG, TLT, IWM, QQQ, USO, SH, RWM, PSQ, AGG, DOG, EWA, EFA, EWJ, IJH, VTI, XLF, XLE, and XLK. “
Please no. Some of us like sleep. It is great that the market is closed most of the time and we can rest easy knowing nothing can go wrong until the next open.
No one says you have to stay up to watch the ticker. Market behavior doesn't wait until you are wide awake to make a decision of what direction it's going to trade in.....A 6.5 hr trading day in 2021 isn't sufficient and the after hours trading is nothing but a joke. Time for some changes..
What is the problem, exactly? Please explain. How would 24/7 trading improve your life? In fact, I could easily argue the opposite. 6.5 hour day is too long. Most of the volume is in the first 30 mins and last 30 mins anways, so the middle of the day is "nothing but a joke". Time for some changes, only have the market open for 60 minutes per day.
24/5 markets are great if you have stops. Who says you have to be awake to trade it though, just go to bed. 6.5 hours is just right for US markets. 60 minutes would mean crazy volatility and huge gaps, no thanks.
I love gaps. They're my bread and butter. If the market only traded once per day in a single auction I think that'd be like.. the best thing ever. How else could you interact with all possible liquidity without being HFT?
