Hi, I am getting a Refurbished Dell Precision 7810 with Win-7 ( Ultimate ) Dual Xeon Processors E5-2690 V3 ( 2.6 GHz ) 32 GB RAM I use lots of Tick Charts. I also use 12 Monitors ( 1920x1200 ) OR I have a choice of Getting NVIDIA Qudro P620 with 2 GB DDR5 GPUs OR NVIDIA Quadro K1200 4 GB GDDR5 GPUs My question is does GPU Play any part in generating tick chart faster ? If so which card will be better besides above two ? It must have 4 mini DP slots. Each card runs 4 monitors so 3 cards needed. Thank You
I have 2 pcs NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1660. I connect it to one piece 42" monitor & 6 pieces 32" monitors The hardware works fine for me. The bottleneck is normally from the charting software service provider. Either their server is undersized, or they use the snail pace TCP/IP protocol or they are filled with bugs.
you are buying a super outdated cpu, unless your software can make use of all cores better off getting a modern computer
You are right. I do have Dell 5820 which is rotting not being used because of damn Win-11, tiny font issue which they have not corrected in Win-10 OR 11. I have to sit at least 6 ft away to see & read all 12 Monitors & can't do it with Win-11 Font size. Tried everything. Any suggestion ?
GPU can have some impact when plotting tick charts, but this heavily depends on the trading platform you’re using. Most trading platforms—like TradeStation, MultiCharts, or even NinjaTrader—are largely CPU-bound and do not offload chart rendering or calculations to the GPU. So in most cases, the GPU won’t make tick charts render faster. Since your main concern is supporting 12 monitors (with 1920x1200 resolution), either the Quadro P620 or K1200 would be fine in terms of display capability. Between the two, the K1200 does offer more VRAM (4GB vs. 2GB), which can help a little with smoother performance in multi-monitor setups, but not in chart speed.
Years ago when I tried to run tic charts, my CPU was pegged-out all the time and the cooling fans ran full speed. W7... really? Not W10? In W10 you can change the font size via System/Ease of Access. Quadro "K" series is 2 generations older than "P" series. I have P620 running 4X UHD @ 3840x2160... uses 1.5GB VRAM. You are running much lower resolution and should use less... you'll likely not notice difference between 4GB and 2GB VRAM. Video requirements for trading are quite low.
