haha, you see we are psychology creatures we get tension when things are out of our control, unless you treat real money as bytes, otherwise you will have restless night, don't you think so?
Of course, I look at the charts constantly / continuously and with full concentration during my day trading. I don't have restless nights as I close my position within a few seconds/minutes and occasionally a few hours. Time to look at the chart, you'd better stare at it intensely. Time not to look at the chart, you'd better not look at it. haha!
Most people think they're looking at the charts when in fact they're only looking at the squiggly lines. That's not chart reading IMO.
my charts talk to me, so i can look if i want to. if alerton=true then begin //alert begin Alert("Custom Alert: 88-Long" + NumToStr(c, 2)); alert(text("88-Long")); PlaySound("c://multicharts//buybuybuy.wav"); // Replace "alert.wav" with the path to your sound end; //alert end;
Good Morning Alexis_0, Yes, I am constantly looking at charts. I am not sure what else is there to do in life to prevent being poor in the USA forever. Selling illegal drugs does not work as good as it use to in the 80s and 90s. And I do not know any secrets in the CME Exchange servers with their Network Engineers. I am sure those CME Network Engineers know some edges in the ES market they are using to get very rich. I may need to take a trip to Chicago and do "snooping" around.
I stopped watching charts at all after I turned to rule-based approach to trading and coded my strategy. Now the primary data that undergoes analysis is sample trade data where I assess performance characteristics
When you are a day trader, you have to constantly look at the charts and make frequent trades. But at the same time, you can sleep peacefully at night when at the end of the day you close all your trades and do not worry about unexpected price movements during the night.
