Do You Actually Enjoy Trading?

Discussion in 'Trading' started by proftradingjourney, Feb 10, 2023.

  1. Do you enjoy trading or are you mostly in it for the money (be it a side income or full-time)?

What's the motivation behind your trading? Do you love the concepts and the process associated with it?

I ask because while I often think to myself that I like the process, and enjoy learning, I just don't know if that's really case, because the end goal is to make consistent money from it. It's almost as if the end goal supersedes any enjoyment from the journey of learning and development. Makes me think no matter how boring a concept is, "just suck it up and push, so you can get to x destination ($$$)."

I've been questioning myself lately if whether or not trading is congruent with my inner callings, and I just don't know. Maybe things are early, but I just don't know if I have that passion for trading like others do. Work and experience are required to become great at anything, but it shouldn't have to be a pain just to get some money at the end of the day. There's got to be some enjoyment out of it.

On a more specific level, technical analysis excites me more than the fundamentals, which are a boring, slog tbh. Earnings, sales, financial statements, it kind of just puts me to sleep, there's no pull there for me.

Can any of you relate to what I'm saying here?

I enjoy the challenge and the fact I can make enought to live on.

I can't think of any better use for my capital. I have tried diferent money managers and haven't found one that I can't out perform.

I sincerely love it. A long time before I started trading
for profits, I'd read dozens of books on the subject,
along with intense study of charts. If I never made
a dime, I'd still enjoy the process.

To me it's like a REALLY REALLY HARD puzzle or riddle to be solved. I enjoy a challenge. I absolutely cant stand to be defeated by something I take on.

Once you start making money, then you would be saying "this totally aligns with my inner calling and I wouldn't know what I would be doing otherwise." :)

Seriously, I suggest you take some time off and chill out. This is a typical sign of burnout.

  7. You know what, you're probably 100 percent right.

I know this isn't a place for venting, but I have been feeling overwhelmed lately. I feel like I can't relax or have fun without working first. It just feels undeserving to have fun without a good days work. And I don't even know how to have fun. When I try, I usually go to the dumb and addicting vices of our time, like YouTube and social media, which ultimately make me feel like an impulsive rat.

I've always had a difficult time creating that balance. I either go hard one way or the other. I guess I just have to plan things out better.

I know this post may make me seem like I'm emotionally unstable or something, but trust me I'm all good. Everybody has those shitty days or weeks, and I think I'm just under that storm atm.

I'm in my early 20's and just been doing a lot of introspection. I think sometimes it can go overboard though, and create unnecessary stress. At the end of the day, I just want a fulfilling life, and to spend time laughing and having fun with my family and amazing people, like most of us.

    All the best.

Sounds like ADHD. Procrastination and hyper-focus only on tasks you enjoy. I don't have the answer for it, but psilocybin can help.

  10. Fat thing, stop being rude. Stop talking shit to good people because you are insecure about you being a fat, ugly, bald "middle age" (lol), drug taking manlet, a pathetic excuse for a man. You are a loser, don't try and take it out on other posters that have and had nothing to do with you being a loser.
