It is a bit weird, I looked at a weekly SPY option through script (using IB API)
I was listening to the last price ticks, so before market open I got no data.
    the first last price tick I got was for 1.02 (then 1.0, 1.05, 1.1, 1.06, 1.12, 1.13, 1.14, 1.15, 1.17)

now the weird thing is that I went to check in yahoo what was the open price for this option...
seems like the open price is 1.16

I didn't even had a tick of 1.16 not to talk about that I had many ticks before that price.

can anyone explain to me what happened?
    thanks in advance

Do you have an idea why I saw so many ticks before the open price?

  4. No ... Perhaps some sort of technical issue with your computer? or whatever.

The SPX (including weekly) and VIX options do trade on an early session from 2 to 815am ct. Actually pretty decent markets, but many brokers don't offer access.

SPY options are also traded till 4:15 PM ET and do not close at 4:00 PM as other options and this has nothing to do with weekly or monthly or leap.

  7. Some Weeklys don't have a pre or post market. Others do. For example most equity options (e.g. AAPL, MSFT, BA, SPY, EEM, etc.) do not have pre market or post market trading. Index Futures Options (e.g. ES, YM, NQ,) trade 23+ hours a day.
