Do I have to keep TradeStation Workshop/Desktop Open?

Quick question that I could not find. I have a strategy developed that I turned on live trading but it is on my home computer, which I do not have access to while I am at work - do I need to keep my tradestation workshop/desktop open and running, or can I close and monitor with my Tradestation app while at work?

    Thanks!

If your strategy is running on your home PC, you need to leave it on for the strategy to execute. You could leave it running at home, and use a remote desktop app like Splashtop to monitor while you are away...

Do you want to leave an automated strategy on its own? At the VERY least place TS on a secure remote server so you have access to it 24/7. The CME has very strict rules about supervision of automated scripts, and one of them is that you need to supervise your algo while it's running-just as an FYI.

  4. That’s interesting. How is one supposed to monitor while sleeping if they hold the position overnight?

My reference was to algo/automated scripts that may trigger orders overnight.

If you keep a position overnight or orders, which is a result of discretionary trading, you obviously know the risks associated with such overnight moves and the protection you have to put in place.
