The only situation I can think of where a high BMI would be an advantage would be something like a holocaust situation where people are starving to death over time. In that case, I'd think that the more bodyfat a person started with, the longer he could hold on to his life.
I imagine the high-BMI folks from the Titanic sinking who weren't on lifeboats lasted maybe 60-120 seconds longer in the North Atlantic than the lower BMIs.
I must have added some time to my life last year while gaining 10 lbs. Cool. This year I will be trying to subtract those years by losing those ten pounds plus 5 more. I'm calling last year a "dirty bulk". LOL.
