After recently being charged for the dividend,it made me wonder. While it's probably not a big number, I wonder what percentage of the dividend payment the company is off the hook for that dividend. I doubt that it's more than 10%.
it's a tax on stupidity. If the dividend exceeds the extrinsic value in the call it's approaching 100% that you will be assigned prior to ex-div date. Risk is proportional to prevailing RFR and time. You're short the synthetic, right? You're in the conversion at massive edge so you're all good.
Is that what Arnie is asking?? I don’t think he was asking about assignment risk.. Could be wrong, but the odds are low
There is no question nor answer that will result in anything but a head-tilt. Yeah, it was sarcasm. He should generally treat any assignment as a gift, but you know he's indiscriminately selling ITM with no understanding of where the forward is priced.
Well then he's paying and receiving and assignment is a gift for Necksium-guy. What's the question? % of assigned calls is the wrong question. If he wasn't a complete r***** this thread would not exist. If he thinks he's going to CC and go deep ITM and walk away with the dividend then we've reached a new low.
Yeah, OP. It's +sum for the company when accounting for the (declared) dividend. I'm going to go beat my head against a wall.
