Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s future in the administration appeared to hang in the balance Friday as competing predictions made the rounds in Washington.
Trump transition team official Rob Wasinger, for example, told Breitbart News he thought President Donald Trump would fire Rosenstein soon. Fox News’s Chad Pergram, meanwhile, cited a source claiming that if President Trump does decide to fire Rosenstein, it will not be immediately:

The speculation took on a new dimension Friday as an unnamed congressman reportedly prepared impeachment articles against Rosenstein and a Democrat vowed to do the same for President Donald Trump if Rosenstein goes.

Pegram also tweeted Friday that articles of impeachment for Rosenstein had already been drafted:

The author and other details are still sparse but Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) had said he would consider impeachment for Rosenstein over his alleged “slow-walking” of certain FBI and DOJ documents he and other congressional Republicans have requested.

Meanwhile, Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-PA) promised impeachment articles for President Trump should he himself dismiss Rosenstein:

Rosenstein, like most other senior executive officials, serves at the president’s pleasure. Unlike the congressional impeachment route, Trump exercising his constitutional power to dismiss his deputy attorney general does not require a reason. Democrats like Boyle, however, evidently believe that doing so in these circumstances, where Rosenstein oversees Special Counsel Robert Mueller, constitutes obstruction of justice, in itself an impeachable offense.

Another congressional Democrat, Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT), believes it is “more likely than not” Mueller, Attorney General Sessions, or Rosenstein will be fired in the “next 48 hours,” according to an email obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF). Breitbart News cannot independently verify the authenticity of this email.

Himes, along with other Democrats and leading leftist organizations, are said to planning to unleash a wave of nationwide street protests if President Donald Trump makes any move to rein in Mueller’s “Russia investigation,” which has expanded to the point of raiding the offices of the president’s lawyer, Micheal Cohen, to investigate the “Access Hollywood tape.”

Democrats, like House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), as well as “NeverTrumpers” like failed presidential spoiler and ex-CIA analyst Evan McMullin, scrambled Thursday to equate firing Rosenstein to firing Mueller:

That theme continues in Himes’ leaked email, where he writes, according to the DCNF, “[T]hat in the next 48 hours, it is more likely than not that the President acts against Attorney General Sessions, Deputy AG Rosenstein, and/or Special Counsel Mueller. His intent will be to end Mueller’s investigation.”

Himes exhorts his local Democratic field organizers to launch “contingency plan” protests in the event Rosenstein is fired. A DCNF source claimed other Democratic reps are doing the same, and documents from the George Soros-funded leftist group MoveOn indicate a “Mueller Firing Rapid Response event” is in the works.

Democrats, so-called “resistance” leftists, and NeverTrumpers have been working for months to establish a “red line” around Robert Mueller that will bring their supporters into the streets or, more legalistically, justify President Trump’s impeachment if Mueller is dismissed.

As speculation about Rosenstein’s dismissal ramped up this week after direct criticism by the president and congressional conservatives, these political factions – whohave never, generally, been at a loss for reasons to protest or call for Trump’s impeachment – have moved that line around Rosenstein.

Thursday, after Rosenstein was called to the White House, he missed a scheduled speaking engagement at a major Justice Department-hosted event, perhaps the strongest evidence yet the number two man at DOJ feels he is under threat of dismissal. NBC News added one additional insight Friday when they reported Rosenstein had privately discussed the situation with confidantes and expressed an understanding he may be fired. “Here I stand,” Rosenstein is reported to have repeatedly said.

According to NBC News’s sources, Rosenstein was confident he has acted correctly as deputy attorney general, including when he drafted the memo recommending FBI Director James Comey’s firing and subsequently.

  2. That looks like Rosenstein blew his nose and Trump came out.

  3. And Trump is now his boss. Either way, Rosenstein knew at the time of the Spec Counsel appointment that they didn't have anything on Trump so he made it a wide-open investigation, in essence, a total manufactured witch-hunt. This is a fact. Looking at how predators become prey is a thing to appreciate in this political turf war. I really hope for the future of this country that Trump perseveres, and looking at his long track record, the odds are in his favor and thus those reasonable and responsible people who support him..

  4. As I said a couple days ago. It absolutely does not get any swampier than this. Rosenstein clearly recommended or provided the detailed basis for firing comey in his letter to Trump. Then he appoints Mueller to investigate whether Trump obstructed justice for firing Comey. That is the swamp on steroids.

The notion that firing rosenstein would be obstruction of justice is beyond absurd. Rosenstein lives and breathes to obstruct justice and has done so across the board from Uranium, to the Clinton Investigation, to the Foundation investigation, the dossier/fisa fiasco and on and on.

Here is Rosensteins letter to Trump via the AG's office about Comey. For those of you who have the attention span of a hummingbird, you can just read the last sentence and that will suffice.

While I haven't been surprised at how many witches the hunt has turned up that we know about already. I anticipate many more to be revealed -- I have predicted what the crimes these as yet to be witches will have perpetrated; crimes to include but not limited to money laundering, bank fraud, tax fraud, i.e., tax evasion, witness tampering, and obstruction to name a partial list. Many more indictments are coming, and they will include the President. The only question is will his indictment come before or after he is out of office. You'd have to be deaf dumb and blind not to appreciate that a person who has surrounded himself with criminals his entire adult life, has been nearly totally dependent on Russian Oligarch money via special purpose LLCs and foreign banks since the the mid 1990s, who has been a defendant or plaintiff in hundreds of lawsuits, and who has announced that his personal finances are off limits to the chief witch hunter, is not also going to be proved to be a criminal. I just can not be that naive. How do you manage that?

  6. In other words, you think that some of the people did not work for a candidate whose last name is Clinton. You know, that is the first thing your ilk does in evaluating whether a crime has been committed. You look to see if it involved a Clinton. If not, well then you might go so far as to concede that "a matter" has occurred but is about it.

Loretta, Comey, Clinton, Rosenstein, Rice, Brennan, Clapper, Strzok, Page, McCabe, Steele, Podesta, Huma Abedin, Cheryl Mills, Brian Taglio, Bruce Ohr, Barack Obama. There, I have just given you a "partial list" of criminals to go along with your "partial list."

  7. I never said Trump is innocent, they are only going after him because the deep state's criminal shenigangs did not work as planned. That anybody here thinks that what happened is not the most outrageous criminal cover-up in history is not being too objective. Trump was elected, not because of his awesome personality, but to stick the finger to all the establishment (which includes both parties). Trump is the victim here. He is only trying to remedy 3 decades of stupid mistakes made by stupid politicians. Too bad so many people can't see that.

I'm not concerned with the Clintons, they have already been investigated ad nauseum . Only thing prosecutable was Bills perjury "I did not have sex with that women" , but there were multiple incidents of bad behavior, e.g., travel gate. Now I'm only interested in the unfettered investigation into Russian interference in our 2016 election and any crimes discovered incidental to that investigation, of which there has already been a plethora charged. I'll leave it up to the court system to determine guilt or innocence . Twenty years from now, long after the current bunch of accused is found to be innocent or guilty, or not enough evidence to prosecute, I won't be harping on how crooked the investigators, judges and attorneys were without substantial evidence of same that meets the beyond a reasonable doubt standard. I'll except what is and move on. You should do the same. I know more than you because I'm a lot older. This is good advice I'm giving you . Do with it as you wish.

By the way, I like that guy's outfit. It might look good on you.

It doesn't make sense to me to burn down the house to get rid of cockroaches.

I can understand that if you think Trump is doing the right things, then in your opinion he's not burning down the house, whereas in my opinion he is.

There is a simpler explanation to why so many are going after Trump. He's hated!! It's because he goes around picking fights, lying, not following through on contracts, acting like an asshole and insulting people. Acting like Trump does is an effective way to get yourself investigated. You better not have any skeletons in your closet if you're going around acting like an asshole. The man's been party to hundreds and hundreds of law suits. Does that sound like a likeable person to you? Is that someone you'd want your kids to emulate? Those he picks up the dinner tab for like him; and then he shits on them.
