Dem's dicking with primaries calendar

  1. Earlier today I heard a member of the DNC Rules Committee say that after the midterms the dnc is going to start dicking with the dem primaries calendar. You know because Iowa is first and they are all white- allegedly- so not reflective and that type of thing.

If so, that is probably a huge development for the candidates planning their lines of attack. Some may recall that a couple weeks ago or so I had that exchange with Usual Tard wherein I said that SC, "the southern wall of black voters kicking in", the Jim Clyburn factor was Joe's savior last time, but it could work against them this time if Kamala and does not run and there is just some white guy metrosexual like Gavin Newsome leading at the time with a couple more white folk in second or other places. Boom. Ain't gonna light any fires down south that way. But if they move the primaries around a bit they can fix some of those problems while making some others worse probably.

And if they move the primaries around undoubtedly places like New Hampshire will be moved down in pack so that don't get a disproportionate amount of attention. And all these candidates going up there pretending how much they are just like New Hampshirites. It does get goofy.

I am somewhat neutral on the issue. It can work for or against a candidate. If you are a solid candidate, who is known, and your type of demographic is now in some earlier states that is going to work for you. Of course if you don't do well, there's an early message for you. And if you are one of these oddball candidates (think Buttigieg last time) who is unknown but benefits from months on the stump you might get hurt if some of the big states vote earlier before you have worked your magic on them.

I am pretty much resigned to the fact that every vote/election we have everywhere, anytime will be close for the rest of my life. So if they change the calendar all around and put states like Iowa and New Hampshire toward the end, I can easily see the primaries votes being evenly divided going into the final states and it will be argued that whitey and smaller rural states are still deciding the final outcome. RACIST!!

Probably moving the primaries dates around is not a big issue down on Main Street. But for the actual candidates and their strategists, it is MAJOR.

Oh how Iowa will fuss if they get moved. Dems might leave them alone and just move in different ones close after so that the mix in the early time frame changes but Iowa remains special, such as it is or is not.

I guess this not really news to the junkies who follow it more closely than I do. The DNC has been taking applications from states for quite a while in regard to moving dates. Today is the first time though that I heard that they are starting in right after the election.
