Some countries (New Zealand, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea) at the start of the Pandemic and currently...never needed to lockdown because they didn't have a leader that played it down, called it a "democratic hoax", closed the airports to China but left it wide open to Europe for almost 30 days after closing it to China... Knew the importance of wearing a face mask instead of making it a political statement (republicans don't wear it...democrats wear it) then the confusing statements by the WHO / CDC. Plenty of blame to go around for all involved including citizens too for the current situation about why people are struggling now that we're in the 2nd wave of the Pandemic with growing targeted restrictions. Simply, the current financial struggles is not the Democrats alone. The economy would have never needed to shut down if everybody just wear a damn face mask, social distancing (no more parties, no more riots, no more protests / rallies) and washed hands. This current situation was avoided and the first idiot in the United States that could have made huge difference but decided to play fucking games... We all know who that is and soon will be gone on inauguration day when there will be a new administration put into place. Hopefully the horrors of the Thanksgiving (2 million flyers) and the pending Christmas Holidays won't kill off another 100k. wrbtrader

People have no idea. Piece it all together, man. There's no way we could have prevented what happened by "closing our airspace borders". With a 7 day incubation period, it was all too late once the first case was detected in the China, nevermind when the first case was detected in the USA.

Other countries like Taiwan, Japan and South Korea did it extremely well including temperature testing all arrivals, quarantine that was enforced (not sure how they did that) and contract tracing prior to the borders being closed. Ironically, South Korea protested to Japan about such restrictions. Simply, the United States could have shut the borders to Europe just as they did with China instead of leaving it wide open (no temperature checks, no quarantine, no contact tracing) for arrivals from Europe while China airports were closed. My point, they shut the airports to China...they didn't need to wait almost a month before they shut the border to Europe and then spend the first several months of the Pandemic blaming China while United States didn't have the patriotic guts to mandate face mask wear...still doesn't under the lame duck President... At the minimum he could have "encourage" wearing a face mask. Thus, I never said the only thing they needed to do was close the borders to Europe. They should have shut it down at the exact same time they shut it down for China along with quarantining all arrivals that had beat (gotten in) prior to the shutdown and contact tracing them. Other countries did exactly that but the United States couldn't do it. P.S. Don't make excuses for the behavior of U.S. President with his rhetoric since Day 1 of the Pandemic...a lot of stuff could have been done. Heck, he could have at least tried encouraging face mask wearing instead of throwing out the Pandemic plan from the prior administration and then calling the Pandemic a "hoax by the democrats". wrbtrader
