Democrats can raise the debt ceiling, but aren't

So, everything I've been able to read, not just conservative drivel sites, is the Democrats can raise the ceiling on their own. Now I see Biden implying that isn't the case. If they and Yellen were truly concerned they would just go ahead instead of playing their side of the games, and running around yelling fire. They can work on leaving the country even more broke after they repair the immediate problem.
Again, politicians and their strategists suck! Both sides, not an one or the other. I truly can't believe all the toadies in this country that buy into voting for only one party instead of the best person. I also laugh at those same people (mostly younger these days) that cry about change and keep electing the same old clown show, and people who think Russia, Cuba, etc. are good examples of the way things should be run.

The Democrats can raise the debt limit, of course. The problem for them is that it will require time, which they have squandered, and some difficult votes for specific line items that expose the absurdity of some of this spending.

The Democrats want Republicans to share ownership in their fiscal folly but the Republicans aren't going to play... apparently.

If the Democrats want to spend the country into socialist oblivion they will have to raise the debt limit themselves and times a' wasting. Biden is such a damned liar about the whole thing its sickening.

Lol, Flathund, the debt ceiling was raised three times during Trump, and he doubled the deficit. Fiscal folly indeed.

It isn't the case w/o a filibuster carve out. Mitch ultimately wants this because his obstructionist bullshit then gives him an excuse to do away w/filibusters when he's back in power. He did the same during the constitutionally entitled Obama appointments which left the dems no option which he then used to get SCOTUS seated.

Either the turtle knows he's got Sinema or Manchin in his pocket which lets him blow up the reconciliation option, or he's waited enough to neuter the dems, knows he'll retake the house and the Senate for 2024 and expects to ram thru legislation blowing the filibuster using the current shitshow as an excuse.

The dems perpetual failure was not pushing for the filibuster from Biden's very swearing in and push through voter protection laws to keep fascists at bay.

He's reading the polling: Americans are largely blaming republicans for this.

The Senate Republicans want to force the Democrats to use up one of their reconciliation cards to raise the ceiling
The Democrats want to save that card for more spending

In April 2021, the Senate Parliamentarian—an in-house rules expert—determined that the Senate can pass two budget reconciliation bills in 2021: one focused on fiscal year 2021 and one focused on fiscal year 2022

If the United States did manage to default I wonder who would be blamed with Democrats controlling both chambers of Congress and the Presidency.

  9. Why are we so bviased to only complain about Democrats with respect to debt at this moment when the past four year the debt ceiling was raised and GOP raised the debt by trillions...

If you want to complain about debt but only see one party spending the money then you are being naive.

Not complaining here in fact I'm happy with the current state of affairs.

I would be perfectly happy to see a government shutdown, default on obligations and the abject failure of the Biden agenda.
