Dell T5820 is a fabulous machine... huge upgrade to prior models... but it came along a bit too late for proper use of NVME speed. So... Dell came up with an "NVME adapter bracket" to mount in one of the SATA drive bays. It seems to me that the NVME speed would be lost if data has to pass through the SATA protocol. Anybody have experience with this? If so, do you have some Crystal Diskmark readings? Tks.
https://www.kingston.com/en/blog/pc...text=Is NVMe faster than SATA,up to 3,500MB/s. Quite a bit of speed difference.
Yes, but that wasn't the question. That NVME would be connected directly to PCIE bus, not routed through SATA interface.
Here's the link to what I would buy right now if I were in the market for a trading rig. https://www.ebay.com/itm/266357064317 I talked to the seller (asking for another ETer). Seller offered... 1. $500 instead of $529 2. Would include 2nd 256GB NVME for additional $15... $515 total. 3. Will include the 4, proper video cables/adapters as you need (The P1000 is an excellent card. Runs on miniDisplayPort.) I would order it on the phone and ask about the above to be sure. This machine is all around "upscale". I priced the same new at dell... >$3,700! HP has equivalent, but for $4100.
