You guys use mental stops or actual stops? Putting in stops can be frustrating as they often times get triggered and then the stock move’s back upward killing your opportunity.
i am pretty good at a managing stop losses with very liquid stocks. of a stop trades under 3 million per day, the swings can be too wild.
Wild swings can be systematically factored into stops if you trade that way. Stevo demonstrates a way here that picks his stops and position size using the same tool, all cued up ready to go... https://www.elitetrader.com/et/thre...t-right-here-baby.335635/page-22#post-5406817
My account won't allow stops on certain stocks so I manage things by watching the ticker and selling when the price reaches where I want. I don't have hot keys either so I setup the sell page in advance so all I have to do is click the sell button. The ticker is on a different website than my trading account. It's not ideal but it works for me.
I use tight stop. Also, it means I should estimate liquidity in the stock to avoid a big squeeze. So I don't trade stocks where I can't be confident about enough liquidity.
