don't watch! Watch those videos where it shows how people managed to - earn a fortune from shorting Tesla, not - lost a fortune from shorting Tesla.
Thanks for posting that video. I have been saying it over and over again for a while... If you do not believe in a company, do NOT SHORT IT. Just STAY AWAY from it. Find another company to long! There's a reason the markets rise over time. It is because the world economy keeps growing. So why try to take a cheap shot at it by trading against the trend? All shorts deserve to burn, because they are betting against the optimism of the world. F them all.
Traders need to know that US security system is designed for stocks to go up. Politicians do not like to see stocks to go down. Both Trump and Biden claimed they did the best job since stock market made record when they were or are President. All levels of governments make high tax revenue with the record market. This is why it is extremely hard to borrow shares to short any market. There are stock market follies.
And if traders believe that premise, why would anyone ever want to short? I LOVE seeing shorts crash and burn, because they are pessimists, in a pessimistic world. We need more positivity!
The foundation of well functioning stock is the market efficiency theory. In a perfect market, Both buyer and seller groups will compete and in the long run, they will reach the equilibrium and make the overall stock market balanced. But the real market is not the "perfect" market. As I said, buyers and short sellers are not on the equal footing. Stock brokers offer very limited stocks for traders to short sell. During the GME peak days, I could only watch GME and even IB would not offer any GME shares to short sell. Granted, it was only for day trading. Bot GME was not available for many days. Also, if I buy 1,000 GME shares, I know those shares will stay in my account until I sell them. But if I short sell 1,000 GME shares, I have to take the risk that my broker could call back the shares and I have to buy to cover them. The market settings are clearly in favor of the long only investments. Short sellers have bad public reputation, unfortunately.
Short-selling a company, in my mind, is akin to going up to the front door of the business and smashing in the door. Setting fire to it. That is not constructive. I will never ever agree with shorting a company. It's BS.
And then his competitors leave a brand new Tesla at his office door ,,Enjoy !'' You would think that a man who has 7B under control would know better than this, of what not to do. Makes you to think, how da hell did he got there in the first place & what kind of his own rules did he had to brake/ignore , to end up like this.
Not really. Short selling serves a purpose. It makes the market more efficient. But clearly the market is not efficient. Particularly during dot com bubble #1 and now. But again, do not fight the market. Do not be a hero and get burnt. If some traders get burnt by TSLA before it drops down to $100, they are dead first. This the game of survival. TSLA is the most manipulated stock ever.
