I'm excited to announce that Databento has launched its dedicated interconnect service. The service enables Databento customers in public cloud (AWS, GCP, and Azure) and 8 major financial data centers across the US and Europe to gain direct access to our real-time feeds, at a fraction of the costs of primary colocation and long-haul networking. This solution leverages Databento's existing point-to-point connections to AWS, GCP, and Azure at their Equinix CH1 and NY5 on-ramps, and to the MMRs of 8 data centers. A dedicated layer 3 connection is set up between Databento and the end customer, allowing them to avoid contention on public internet routes and ensuring stable tail latencies and uptime. For users with cloud-based infrastructure, this means that Databento's market data traffic will bypass hops on public network routers and go directly through your cloud provider's backbone to reach your cloud servers in any availability zone around the world. For users with self-hosted infrastructure, this brings cost savings of at least 30% over the nearest real-time market data solutions with comparable latency, and provides convenient access to full market feeds from remote trading venues. The combined setup, together with Databento's fast real-time API, achieves unprecedented end-to-end latencies at this price point: users using Databento's Python client may achieve latencies, measured in 90th percentile time between exchange handoff and client application, of 1.7 ms at Azure US N. Central and 590 μs at Equinix NY1—for a monthly cost that only starts at $650. Since the solution taps into Databento's existing network, the setup time is as little as 30 minutes and users shave off the cost of a cross-connect on one end. One of Databento's customers, a leading commodities firm, saved over $20,000 in annual costs and reduced median latencies by nearly 20 ms after switching to Databento and adopting its dedicated interconnect solution. Moreover, the firm was able to cut down unnecessary bare metal infrastructure in Equinix NY4 in doing so, accelerating its cloud migration strategy. "We're seeing increased adoption of public cloud infrastructure among our customers, but existing market data vendors only provide limited support for these customers," said Craig Smith, principal network architect at Databento behind this service. "With our dedicated interconnects, we're meeting the needs of customers outside of the primary colocation facility, who still have mission-critical applications that require deterministic latency, high throughput, and high uptime for their real-time market data."
