"Dangerous Ideas" Loom As Once Democratically Chosen, There's No Reversing Socialism

Discussion in 'Politics' started by Scataphagos, Jan 26, 2019.

  1. Almost every conceivable form of “socialism” was tried over the last 100 years.

Bernie Sanders’ campaign in the Democratic party’s primaries in 2016 demonstrated the renewed attractiveness of the “democratic”-socialist idea. Millions were attracted to his promise of a beautiful social and economic future, if only government took a far greater directing and redistributing hand in everything in American society. (See my articles “‘Democratic Socialism’ Means a Loss of Liberty” and “‘Liberal Socialism’ Another False Utopia.”)

Once Democratically Chosen, No Reversing Socialism
But what happens to democracy after that? What if “the people” have second thoughts in election years 2022 or 2024 or 2026 or 2028?

This is a POWERFUL article. The entire Leftist agenda in America revolves around the notion of "democratically chosen" Socialism.

50% of us already know this. The Founding of America and the US Constitution were based upon trying to make it so that such "Big Government" COULD NOT HAPPEN HERE!

    All should read!

  2. "...America may be a long way from Venezuela’s tragedy, experts say. Polls show that many of the 37 percent of Americans who say they support “socialism” actually have in mind the generous welfare states seen in Europe, rather than the traditional definition of socialism – the nationalization of production.

Giannina Raffo personally experienced the effects of Chavez’s economic policies, which caused massive shortages and hyperinflation.

“Just before coming to the U.S. in January 2016, my family and I used to make +8 hour lines to buy basic goods.”

    Food was her biggest worry.

“It’s the same that Cuba has – basically you can only buy a certain amount of food per week (2 pastas, 2 milks, 1 chicken, etc).”

She noted that, often, even that amount was not available. Surveys show the average Venezuelan has lost 24 pounds.

Her family was fortunate and was able to move out of the country.

“'Living' in Venezuela was not living anymore. [My family] only spent their time trying to find food and medicines to survive. The apartment that [my family] left behind – my home for 24 years – is now empty. They are not coming back.”

She continues to be an activist and tries to help Venezuelan pro-freedom groups from the U.S.

My advice to people, especially to youth, is to never stop fighting for their freedom. Never let your country be ruined by a "Chavez" or anyone,” she said. (OP add... Bernie Sanders, AOC, Krugman, Pelosi/Schumer, DiBlasio, et al.)

“Don't let someone ruin your next generations with absurd ideas of socialism. Educate and disseminate ideas of freedom as far you can.”

Too late. Republicans have managed to destroy the education system, and mock education as being part of the "elite".

Education system is fucked. Both parties brought it there and only a courageous President would eliminate the Board of Education...I was hopeful Trump would try but no chance.

The entire US Education system is replete with Marxist teachers, professors and administrators. Students in post 2nd are predominantly selected based on intersectionality characteristics rather than competence.

The universities, especially the humanities, are, as never before, a cesspool of indoctrination.

Hmm... a liberal education as the enemy... certainly not an original idea. It's not so easy to see where this is headed, but your arguments seems to have taken a wrong turn. It a little disconcerting to follow your arguments to their conclusion and realize that you're suggesting that teaching people to think, which is what a liberal education does, leads to bad decisions.

Your idea might hold water if primary and secondary education institutions were areas where ideas were freely exchanged.

Where is this liberal education you speak of?

Massive difference between a classically liberal education which we promote and desire and a leftist education.
Classical Liberals spoke of freedom and limited govt. They got us the U.S. and western Europe. Their ideas created the Constitution.

Leftist educations get us Cuba and USSR and Venezuela and Eastern Europe.

We spend more on education than anyone. Its not the money ... its how we are teaching and where the money is being spent it that is causing the problems.

I love the education systems in heavily democrat areas where republicans have no control. Wouldnt you just love to send your kids to public schools in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Newark, NJ, or Compton?

In the 1960s the California public school system was the envy of the world. What a long way they have fallen and who took over?

Reagan. The Republican party is the party of fried chicken franchise and casino owners and anti-intellectual to the core. Although Johnson's "great Society," was misinterpreted in a way that ultimately damaged public primary and secondary education, it was the Republicans that made matters much worse because they haven't a clue what's wrong -- you don't have to be a rocket scientist to run a successful fried chicken franchise -- and Republican "solutions" to problems in the public education system are all destructive as hell.
