DAILY Video Journal: Trade Recap + Watchlist Review

Discussion in 'Journals' started by xeenosTrading, Apr 24, 2020.

  1. Hi all! I create two videos each day and will share with the community.
One of the elitetrader admins said I can do this via video embedding in the post so that's how I will share them with everyone (they are originally posted on YT):

    1. Watchlist Performance Report (trade recaps + notable charts)
    2. Watchlist Review (planning for the following session)

    Notes:
    • I'm primarily an intraday trader (equities, sometimes futures & options)
    • My most active trading hours are 9:40am-1130am market time.
    • A typical day for me includes 1-3 trades
    • My watchlist and trade selection usually includes high beta tickers, tickers cycling in play based on market conditions (ex. airlines during Covid), and "in play" tickers I find in the morning based on gap ups/gap downs from news catalyts/earnings
I will include the below clip as the introduction to the thread as it's a quick trade recap which also includes a clip from the previous nights watchlist review in which the trade was pre-planned the night before. Sometimes they work out this way if the high beta names are something I trade in the session.

Look forward to building this thread and speaking to other traders!

Classic case of curve-fitting what works, in hindsight, after the fact, with an edited video. #sad.

If your trade DIDN'T work, would you be so candid about it? Would be so forthwith? I don't think so. There are very few people in this universe who are.

    Not buying it yet.

  3. I find it #sad that I'm a new member who joined as someone with the sole purpose of trying to engage the community and I'm met with such hostility off the bat.
Winners and losers are posted. I'm doing this for free as an opportunity to speak to other traders out there and as a form of connecting with the trading community (trading is a lonely profession as it is... this covid situation has added to that so I started this).
My daily routine already includes marking up my charts so I can later reference them to evaluate my performance and setups that are working/not working based on current market conditions, so I figured this was an extra step I could take that some may enjoy.
Do you have any actual feedback? like...
"dude, nice trade but was the fact that the market didn't feel that strong really a "reason2sell" before hitting your final target"
lol that's the kind of things I think about when I watch traders videos and when I review my own trades when doing my performance evaluations - perhaps losing is just pre-programmed as some people default that they think everything is fake. Awesome start to a thread I was excited to share :/
Either way - sending positive energy your way - take it or leave it.

I think it's because your video has that BS feel to it that we see here often. Welcome, and prove us wrong.

Identifying stop levels (or whatever money management is used) ahead of time would add credibility. I don't think it's in the video, but maybe I missed it.

  10. Good risk reward/stop placement example in today session. How your stop placement will effect your risk/reward vs your accuracy.
