As usually, we are going to journal our hero's (CZ, Binance's now ex-CEO) journey through the US justice system and describe the punishment he gets. So far the story:

    https://www.reuters.com/technology/...-sentencing-2023-11-24/?utm_source=reddit.com

For the lazy: CZ after years of successful evasion of the long arm of the law, agreed to come to the US and face the music. Of course there was a deal.

"The company as part of a plea deal agreed to pay more than $4.3 billion. Zhao has agreed to pay a $150 million penalty to the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and prosecutors in a Wednesday filing said he faces up to 18 months in prison."

Now before sentencing he would like to go to the UAE, because he has to say goodbye to his family, and maybe disappear for a while. Prosecution is arguing that fat chance. He is out on a 175 MM bond.

    The funniest comments from Reddit:

--Your honor, I have some errands I need to run in Dubai. Can I leave, pretty please?
--Sure, but please exit though the NY city Department of Corrections gate.

--"I uh... left the oven running. In Non-Extradition-Landia. You know, in the middle of Nowheresville? I uh gotta go."

--The judge should reject the request and deliver a succinct and clear justification for their decision that simply says "4"
    --"decades in prison"
    --Cell block, chained

None of which was a crime when Binance
    was founded.

I have a problem with the long arm of
the law making it up as they go along.

I would not have paid them anything.
    Then surrounded myself with ex-patriots
mercenaries and dared them to come and
    get me.

How many of us are vilifying people like
Zhao, while at the same time we used
    their platforms to make profit?

We need to stop allowing the Government
to dictate where and when we can trade.
The whole thing stinks to high heaven..forrealz

That $175 million is nothing. The UAE is basically his "get out of jail" card. Don't think we are going to see CZ ever again. Can't believe that judge actually granted him his request. LOL

After all those efforts to bring CZ to justice and he can still get away like that at the last minute. He's definitely got connections.

Expected 18 months in prison? Is that a joke? For abiding and abetting international terrorist groups in laundering and transferring funds? Others, who were seen and picked up in some mountains in Afghanistan are still sitting in Guantanamo, almost 2 decades later without legal representation and without the US able to make any case because there is zero evidence they were remotely close to some of the 9/11 masterminds. Money really buys get out of jail free cards in Amurika.

I was surprised he actually came to the US. What was the point of hiding all these years if they got him so easily? Apparently he got the message that they are going to get him, no matter what.

My bet is that the current Israel-Hamas trouble caused this. Once it was proven his brokerage was used by Hamas, Al-Queda, etc. the show was over for him. And even though there is no extradition between the USA and the UAE, if you ask them nicely they will extradite. The government wanted the database, what he nicely provided, so much about anonymity.

And by the way I mentioned this YEARS ago, for the government to decide to REALLY go after these guys you only need a terrorist attack and the guys using crypto. Another 911 and the terrorists being funded by crypto would be the end of Bitcoin as we know it. It is surely the end of CZ.

    What are you talking about.

The platform was used by Hamas, Isis, Hasbollah, cartels and other organizations of that sort.

Local population managed to achieve that in south africa, but, it didn't turn out too well.
