https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2024...rrency-ceo-kidnapped-held-for-1000000-ransom/ Personally I see this as a major problem for crypto holders. Akin to having large amounts of gold sitting at your house. How are people dealing with it?
I've met the CEO. Also hold a bunch of shares of WonderFi for years now. The thing about Toronto, is this is the first thing I thought of as soon as I read the title. Crypto CEOs have been kidnapped before in Toronto. Part of the problem is Trudeau's "Defund the Police/Catch & Release" program has been a disaster in TO. And couple this with his mass immigration/migrant crisis, it was bound to be a disaster. Though, most Canadians now hate him for so much worse. Even O'Leary couldn't hold back another rant this week.
Many crypto holders are turning to secure, offline storage options like hardware wallets to protect their assets. Others opt for reputable custodial services, offering added security and peace of mind.
By goodness!! Tiny Ransom of only $1m?!!? No wonder BTC is getting higher and higher and is now at 90K.
The problem is, the kidnapper has to believe you that you do not have instant access to the founds. He may gonna torture you first a bit...
I've always said, if you brag about your success online, you're inviting thugs to knock on your door.
Yup. Canada was the first into crypto Miners, ETFs, etc. You have a lot of really wealthy investors in Toronto who got in much earlier than Americans. The problem, is you can have the best digital security in the world, but it is easily defeated by a 'five-dollar wrench attack.'
