Weird clip. He does not even seem to be Canadian (Englishman?) and pissed on Canada. He starts with the housing market but offers zero solutions or ideas. Then suddenly he accuses Canadians of not helping each other. What? The community I live in helps each other every single day and I help others. The major problem that Canada (or should I eather say Trudeau) opened itself up to is unlimited immigration. This year there might be 900,000 students alone. This is BATSHIT Crazy. Not because of the number itself but the fact this represents almost 2.5% of the entire population plus those are not students from wealthy nations. Those are the absolute button rung of global society. Totally uneducated and unskilled folks from India and the Philippines who displaced Canadian renters en masse and push prices up from the formerly 300k,400k,500k homes. They now are bidding 800k and million dollar homes and occupy and share with 7 or often times even more completely unrelated individuals. This crazy unskilled immigration is what will ultimately break Canada's backbone and push down productivity and skill and educational levels. Academic institutions in Canada by large are immigration mills, pure multi billion dollar businesses that have absolutely nothing to do with education and preparing students for future careers. This is what this guy should talk about but I guess he would out himself as one of that class of immigrants.
I have cousins that live in the Toronto area (mainly Windsor) and they had to sell their investment properties so that their children could buy a house which is is virtually impossible without the bank of mom & dad. In fact one of their son-in-laws was a surgeon in Toronto and he told me he left to go work in Boston. He was making 3.5X his Toronto salary in Boston. I think he said Boston real estate was a lot cheaper than Toronto, so a good arbitrage for him. The Canadian health care system is a real mess according to him. Alot of his colleagues were leaving for the states as well. I think the real problem in Canada is there really isn't an industry with a lot of growth besides Banking & Real Estate. The same problem exists in the UK, Australia & NZ as well. I agree that Trudeau is a real fucking disaster. The ultimate virtue signalling Prime Minister.
Particularly in healthcare the issue in Canada is that there is not a lot of privatized health care. Doctors and nurses are paid and in many cases directly employed by the provincial health insurance body which is public and government operated. The pay is very low by international standards and there is virtually nothing doctors can do, no other choices other than privately practicing abroad. Many doctors in BC make about 150k-200k a year which cuts it in rural communities but by no means provides a decent life style in cities like Vancouver or Victoria.
False water has trashed Canada The worst of political prostitutes (political prostitutes are those who do and say whatever they think will get them votes - regardless of morals, legality or (blank) forbid what is good for their country) Note: All places and persons are fictitious and any relationship to any person or place either real or imaginary is coincidence.
Points in the video: Sustained low interest rates have fueled the enormous price bubble in Cdn real estate prices. Many Cdn have the "I'm OK - I have a house who cares about you?" Rents have skyrocketed along with real estate No one is able to buy a house without help from relatives Here is a chart
Several years ago (5?) prior to the govt campaign to enrich Pzill and friends - take this injection of lose your job -era, I was at a Star-ucks sitting at a large table and there was a Chinese person, his son, and their real estate agent. The father couldn't speak English - but his son could. The real estate agents was saying things like "we'll have to waive all conditions" the son translated the dad nodded - rather disinterested. He showed me pictures of one home he was buying - I think the one he was going to live in - beautiful with lofty ceilings and skylights. I said how much I loved the skylights. He agreed. He asked me how much that house would be - of course I didn't know and said so - as so much depends on where in the city he was buying, etc. He wasn't concerned with price and was buying 14 houses. -about 12mil (?) at the time. -no doubt his real estate holdings (from that purchase tranche) have at least doubled -so at 25% down he has made 8x on his money. (this story from the nation's turn-off-the-cameras and crush peaceful demonstrators with black-shirts, and run over ladies in wheelchairs while mounted on horses, illegal arrests- town.)
