Creating Custom Indicators

So I'm at the beginning of my trading journey, currently have a few thousand in the market and reading, studying, and learning, and just kind of taking it slow. In my reading there are some indicators that are, I suppose, less mainstream, but still I'd like to build them and use them and see how well they work and decide whether to keep or toss.

Problem is with them being less mainstream they are not a selection in many pieces of software like eTrade Pro or stockcharts.com etc. They are relatively simple to map out. The problem is I don't see anywhere in these programs where you have a blank indicator you can custom graph with figures. I suppose it could be done in excel but wasn't sure if anyone else has run into this situation and had a preferred method they use. Much appreciated for any help in advance.

There are several platforms that offer "scripting" that will allow you to program your own indicators. Google a bit

You got better chances of making it creating custom indicators than actual trading from the custom indicators LOL

Do you mean creating and selling them? Probably true, especially since it sounds like he didn't create them, he got them from a website. FX message boards are overflowing with worthless "custom" indicators.

Sorry. Probably didn't format the question well. What I'm looking to do is make a new high/ new low chart with only specific indexes. There's also another non mainstream indicator I wanted to look at that's not in my etrade pro software.

So I would have to graph them manually with the given data.

  7. You can use excel for that. If you are more sophisticated you can use R.
