    Looking to short Corn,
    Trade could last several quarters.

Should I short using the ETF or the future ?

I see historical data isn’t the same,
Maybe something more is factored into CORN.

Never rolled a future contract neither.

    A more important question is
    is it on the downtrend?

Not going to sell it tonight,
But it’s near ATH, been rejected strongly.

    Double top if you will,
    Looking for it to reverse.

    Maybe towards 300 on ZC.

    Looking for a breakdown,
    Lower high on the monthly.
Looks like a dead cat bounce.

100Pts risk vs 400pts reward. Gross.

That low open interest could mark a turning point. IDK

Have you been paying attention to the crop reports during this harvest season? It might provide you guidance.

Short the future. You'll get charged borrow fees for shorting the ETF. Better yet, buy a put on the ETF to limit your loss. FYI, barchart.com rates corn as a strong buy.

Don't trade futures since you are unfamiliar.

Been trading futures but on an intraday basis.

Corn is still bullish but a weekly close below 680 with a stop around 706 would be interesting.

Could be the first lower high near ATH on the weekly.

Looks like a mean reverting (until it isn’t) asset like most of the commodity stuff.

It’s near ATH therefore I am paying attention to it.

Wanted to buy NG when it was near ATL around 1$ in 2020 and I didn’t do it.

The news / sentiment is always going to be bullish at the top and bearish at the bottom.

Now I need to check if it advances or declines based on this.

Buying a put on CORN sounds interesting if there’s enough liquidity.

As per the Crop report … I’ll let the market do the translation.

  9. no idea why anyone would open a short trade with $corn futs or ETF.
Futs have been making higher lows and higher highs for 5 decades.
Fundy arguments for shorting are obviated by low water level events: both the great Mississippi, and Lake Mead.
Folks who want to short Corn, where's the price weakness going to come from??
Maybe you are right. I certainly don't want to miss a giant bear trap, if it exists.

    There’s indeed this rising channel,

But I believe we’re more or less going to repeat the 75-05 behavior. Range bounded trading.

Pretty sure we’re going to revisit the 300’s

    Let’s see ^^

Do you really think corn can go up forever ?
