My trading method works well with equities and I am considering a switch. ( I currently trade futures ). I have no problem with putting up a deposit. I could fund an account with over 25k, but I would like to explore my options with a prop firm. I just want a honest straight forward firm and I am willing to get series 56. Any suggestions ??
How much more income do you expect to generate from the switch? If it's not material, I would stick with being independent and futures.
I would go with a brokerage that charges little, like IB. I am so happy with the $1 cost to buy 100 or less shares. Some of the volatile triple-leveraged ETFs are almost comparable to futures per leverage, and maybe a bit safer, imo. Take a look at LABD, for instance.
Can I ask why your wanting to make the switch ? Sounds like you want to be in and around other traders as you've missed out on that interaction for a long time. I understand that if this is the case. Has you approach to equities changed much that from futures. Any new experience is good, all the best
I live in an area where there are no trading floors. There are a few reasons why mainly because the Mkt I trade at cme is being dominated by spoofing and hft and it's getting worse. I am currently testing my method of trading over a few equities and etfs. My hang up is cost. It seems any prop firm where I can deposit capital has fees above 3-400 $.
The way I am leaning is opening an account with IBKR. If I have 50k to send bright why not just open IBKR account w the 50k, 4X intraday buying power +/-200k is ample capital for my strategy. I don't get why I would go with a prop firm like bright ? Anyone enlighten me ?
I think the props will charge you like crazy but you will get much bigger leverage than 4:1. Unless you are a super day trader, 4:1 is plenty. Plus futures is closer to 30:1, and you will have that available in the same account with IB.
