From Seeking Alpha this morning: "Starbucks (NASDAQ:SBUX) announced plans to hire 10,000 refugees, while Airbnb (Private:AIRB) said it would provide them with free housing and anyone not allowed in the U.S. Google (GOOG, GOOGL) has created a $4M crisis fund, UBER will establish a $3M defense fund and LYFT said it would donate $1M to the ACLU." I find it remarkable that these companies are so damned concerned about muslim refugees and immigrants. At the same tine, they couldn't care less about our own people. How about Starbucks hire 10,000 disabled vets? Even 100 would be a start. I suppose having a disable vet doesn't fit their corporate image as much as some woman in a hijab. Maybe Airbnb could house homeless americans, since we are constantly being told what a serious problem it is. Like maybe vets who are dying waiting to get into to see their VA doctor? Uber is establishing a $3M defense fund? Isn't that encroaching on Soros' and CAIR's turf? Anyway, there are loads of dirtbag lawyers who will take these cases for free. They will bankrupt an ordinary American family needing legal assistance, but potential terrorists get a reduced rate. Just like they couldn't volunteer enough time to help terrorists at Gitmo. Maybe we rejected the traditional cab industry a bit too soon. WTF does any of this have to do with Uber, which is a german company? You'd think they at least would understand the issue, but I guess virtue signaling to millennials is more important.
It is amazing that Starbucks focuses on just about everything going on in the world today except making better coffee! I think with the recent travel ban as well at the fact that Islam/Muslim is now a race I think we need to Race Together again. It is a great idea that must be brought back. Discussing race relations with your busy barista in a crowded Starbucks is brilliant. WE MIGHT NOT BE STRONGER TOGETHER BUT CAN WE RACE TOGETHER????
That's 190 too many people who were inconvenienced for no reason by a President that doesn't give a shit about most people. Add to it the story the Christian Syrian family members that waited 15 years to be accepted into the US to join their relatives and upon arriving were sent back to Syria ( where they may not be safe now ). Too many of you have the attitude who cares about human rights and fairness when it's not directly impacting yourself, your family, or your close friends. But if something does impact you, like higher health premiums, you get upset like the world revolves solely around your needs. Yet you feel justified in playing with people's lives as long as you don't know them or they are different in some way. Shame on you for this, shame on Trump and any Americans who think this is how you treat people. Proper procedure and warnings weren't even issued. The Canadian government found out about the travel bans from the news. Hundreds of legal US employees from some important corporations were put in some form of residency/visitation limbo; if they were truly bad people or terrorist threats ( as some wackos on here seem to think ), these companies wouldn't hire them and care so much about their well being.
That is so not true. As TripleA stated above so well (as he often does)... why not 10,000 disabled vets? Starbucks should be giving back to those that have enabled it to exist. Do you know what the suicide rate is among this demographic?! Maybe if SBUX wants to be touchy feely.... they should embrace these folks and make them know they are important and wanted. Pass out a few scholarships to them and their children. Make them managers. Pay em well. Think that might help cut that suicide rate a tad? And why not a legal defense for AMERICAN families that are in one way or the other in battles they have every right to win, but can't afford to fight. I have heard some real horror stories about families that have lost it all fighting insurance companies in court just to keep their chronically ill child alive. Google should be building a fucking wing at St Judes. So save me the tears bro... I really don't give a fuck if someone gets sent back to Syria for a few months when I read in the local headlines that another one of our vets took their own life out of desperation because America wasn't working for him or her and they gave so much so it could. FU.
Stop being so ignorant supporting an openly racist policy from your President. Support of disabled vets has NOTHING AT ALL to do with the proper treatment of Muslims legally living, working, or immigrating to your country. The US is rich enough to support it's veterans AND respect Muslims. Your argument reads like a 1930's German citing the widespread poverty and troubles since WW1 as a reason why the Nazi's growing disrespect of the Jews was ok. So you can personally boycott some corporations because you dislike their policies, but they'll gain just as much if not far more customers with their enlightened stance on these issues. And mark my word, if Trump pushes these heavyweights in the corporate world too far with his tariffs and demands, they'll off shore even more business and treat the US as a branch office servicing the US population only. This is going to get messy. Lots of jobs will be lost if 20% tariffs get put on etc etc. No tears in Canada over the mess in the US, it's more of a side show to us then anything. And please, no bitching on here in 3-4 years if Trump's influence on your country is a huge negative. You want the wall, you want to cut taxes for the wealthy, you want to piss off other countries by implementing draconian trade restrictions. If he get's his way, it will certainly be Made in America to your specs. If it works out for you, well, enjoy it, hopefully not at the expense of many others.
All the polls are showing majority support for Trumps Country Ban. #Losing How does it feel to be losing this argument?
