I’m wondering if there is any difference between E*trade and TradeStation with regard to cost and fees or SPAN if selling naked ES calls. Tks. (I’m asking because Schwab is hitting me for 2.50 a contract and IB which is cheap but is laying 200% of SPAN on me.)

E*TRADE’s futures infrastructure isn’t very good.

  4. You realize, right... that you're leaving yourself open to unlimited risk and loss by doing that?

(One of the MOST RISKY things you can do in the markets is to sell naked options... many brokers won't even allow it.)

    Same with a short future.

  6. I still remember years ago in schooling for the Series 7 exam... the instructor "pounding the table" about "Writer, seller, short... BIG risk".

    Buying options = limited risk.

Selling options* (if naked), = UNLIMITED RISK!

    * Selling covered calls is virtually zero risk... same with selling "cash-backed puts". What what fun is that? :) The "action" is in selling naked. :)
