Someone needs to inform Comey that Canada has separated hundreds of children from their parents each year at the border for over two decades. While they are at it they can ask Comey about Canada's human rights record with the First Nation people.

'Ashamed' Comey weighs calling himself Canadian, rips Trump border actions during Ireland visit

During a visit to Ireland, fired FBI Director James Comey said Friday that he was so ashamed of current U.S. immigration policies that he considered telling Irish customs officials that he was Canadian when he arrived.

Comey made the remark during a public interview in Dublin, the Irish Times reported.

“I am ashamed of the way my country has acted with respect of those children. I am disgusted, I am horrified, I am embarrassed, I’m ashamed,” he said.

Comey, who is on a promotional tour for his book, "A Higher Loyalty," arrived in Ireland with his wife this week.

“My wife and I were joking, not really joking; we wanted to tell the people on the customs line coming here that we were Canadian. And we were joking but it’s funny because it reveals a truth: I’m ashamed,” he said.

Comey blamed the U.S.-Mexico border crisis -- in which scores of children were separated from their parents until President Donald Trump issued an executive order changing the policy -- on political and economic conditions in Central America.

A day earlier, in an interview with the Guardian, Comey likened the detention centers for immigrants arriving in the U.S. to the Japanese internment camps during World II and the civil rights struggles of the 1960s.

Comey also told the Dublin crowd that his decision to reopen a case on Hillary Clinton’s alleged mishandling of emails just 11 days before the November 2016 presidential election was not motivated by politics. It was a decision many have blamed for her loss.

The former FBI director also reiterated his criticism of President Trump, whom he said is “morally unqualified for office.”

  3. What is with the endless if we find someone else doing something then it makes whatever we are doing ok with cons on this site?

It never stops. They are like small kids themselves screaming mine! and he did it first!

These guys are the most Milgram experiment prone humans imaginable. All they need is a sniff of higher authority saying do something they know is bad and their own conscience disappears.

What is it with the endless acceptance of false statements and equivalences by leftists. Claims that “the U.S. is so evil we really should be like Canada” — while completely ignoring that Canada has had the exact same policy in place for decades.

  6. I guess it is as simple as that. Some men never grow out of the Mine! Mine! He did it! phase. It blocks any higher thought.

I'm off to talk turkey with a metal fabricator about my new BBQ. I want to BBQ turkeys.

Answer one question — do you find Comey claiming he wanted to declare himself Canadian to criticize Trump’s border policy while deliberately ignoring that Canada has the exact same border policy of separating families to be absurd?

Any reasonable person finds this to be absurd.

They expect people to be as dumb as them and not to read the sources:

In 2017, 151 immigrant children were held with their parents in Canadian detention centers. Eleven more kids were held in separate centers away from their parents or guardians, according to the Canada Border Sevices Agency.

The agency could not say why a minor would be unaccompanied by the adult they entered the country with, CBC News reported. But the action of detaining children is seen as a "last resort" and the border agency is ordered to take into consideration other possible solutions that would be in the "best interests of the child," according to Canada's Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

In one report by McGill University, which talked to 20 families who were detained in immigration centers in Toronto and Laval about their experiences, it was found that half of the time children were separated from their parents at some point in the process of seeking asylum.

  9. Careful. I think some Right Wingers here will regard that as a death threat.

  10. Comey talks about his feeling of shame about America, yet when he was in charge of one the most respected agencies in DC, he turned it into the most disgraced.

Maybe he could have taken care of his own house while he was there.

    LOCK HIM UP!!!
