Collective 2.. Thoughts?

Discussion in 'Trading' started by tradingacct1, Mar 22, 2016.

  1. Overall, what has been your experience with the platform?

Say for example, I would like to get into passive trading. Put in $10,000 and find the best system per good risk/reward. Is it as simple as letting the trader take over on the platform and letting them trade while I go and do other things?

Thoughts, experiences, and opinions are all appreciated.

    Thanks in advanced.

It looks like you have to pay >$99/month once you take it live. That'd be a 12% drag on your 10k portfolio and I'm skeptical it's worth it. I'd probably avoid it with less than $100k.

  3. Those systems are "black box" affairs. As the systems on C2 operate in opacity, you will never know what the logic is behind them. Even if they have a decent growth curve, it's difficult and abstract to invest under that uncertainty. If they entail a lot of transactions and a high monthly or annual subscription fee and you end up with nothing to show for it, that is an additional level of frustration added. Many of them also use leveraged products also, further complicating the process.

Using investment premises based on academically proven studies, you can at least have empirically backed, accessible and transparent research vs. opaque. One area of study shows that the small cap value and small mid cap growth stock universes have produced highest alpha of all stock universes over decades. Passively investing in low expense ETFs representing these universes over a long term period has represented a superior risk to reward without subscription and trading fees, and tax preparation headaches
